First thing first I will introduce my self before anything, I consider my self a veteran player, I've been on around 30´Mmos, Rpg, Mobas, FPS, etc. I came to BDO because it looks great, but found something in BDO that I see as a challenge, as a veteran player I really like min/max, however, BDO devs/business guys, have this "Fell the game" politic, so the amount of information about the game is scarce, but that is something that never had stopped me, so I decided to make lots of tests, in this post you will find some of my discoveries about this confusing AP system.

Before I start giving numbers and explain what I found, I will explain how this test was done, I used 2 LVL 59 Witchs, my main witch is the one that was doing the tests, and a punching bag with some DP, around 180, I used mainly 4 items, Ultimate Rosar Staff +15, Rosar Staff DUO, Bares Staff PRI and Kzarka Staff TRI, this was done this way, so I could test many APs, even different weapons with the same AP, as for the skill I used Thunder Storm III with flow disabled, Thunder Storm has 100% crit prob so I crits won't be a problem when comparing, so we will start with the awakening skills then we will move to succession skills

The first thing I wanted to test its the difference dmg between a Bares weapon and a Rosar, here we are using bout the same AP so we can see how much damage those +21 all species increases my dmg, I have some tables, with many, many numbers, but I will only paste here the summary, AVG, Min, Max Damage and the link to the gear planner so you can see the full stats

Well, let's start comparing, before we start, don't be a fool with the average damage, what we will focus on it's the max damage, why we shouldn't focus on average?, because the accuracy of the three weapons are too low so the damage it's erratic, I've done 30+ hits, so I can ensure I can get a full 7 hit getting the máx damage, the first two weapons have the same AP, 146, same AAP, 168, but bares have 21 extra all species, we find something we waited to see, bares has higher damage, nothing new here right? well ned lets see the Rosar DUO, which has 160 AP, here something interesting it's happening, we could wait for an increase of damage, but the damage its very similar to the Rosar +15, even having 14 more AP, we could wait for something near Bares or even halfway, but it doesn't, this made me start thinking, so I equiped my Kzarka TRI and start hitting, we'll found something unusual, maybe for you, but was something I was expecting after I saw this numbers.

We will compare it to the Bares, This Kzarka weapon has 181 AP a total of 35 AP increase, but we see something interesting, the damage from both it's very the same, how this could be? I know what you will tell me, Awakening skills gets only a portion of your AP, around 30%, but let's make some numbers, 181 it's 129% of extra AP compared to the Bares 146 AP, a 30% extra AP, if we apply the 30% reduction, we have an increase of 10% total AP, but the damage increases a very little around 22 dmg, that represents only 2.5% of damage increase. Don't be so fast, we have here something you may not see you can think, the ap from your main hand its too little so you will only notice it after a really big increase, I mean like 50+ AP, But we had an increase of 5 hidden AP, which could mean, we are not getting bonus damage from AP its self, it's from hidden AP, and AP really don't increase the damage and the extra damage it's coming only from the brackets AP, hidden AP.

What about testing the damage coming, from your AAP so a removed some earings so, to reduce from 160 to 146 AP, and a decrease from 168 AAP to 154 AAP using the same Rosar Duo

Well no surprises here, the damage down for a total of 100 damage around 85% of the damage from the original Rosar Duo damage of 847, but the interesting here its the amount of damage decrease vs the damage that the bares increases, while Bares is increasing 10% of damage with his 23 extra species, This test with only 14 AAP increase it's giving around 17%, in both cases the hidden AP and AAP it's the same, of the damage what is this meaning? I came to two possibilities, in both cases, I'm considering that the hidden AP and extra AP, is a flat increase while gearing AP and AAP it could be a factor, increasing the effect of each AP/AAP, or AP/AAP shred through DP, decreasing the damage reduction from your DP. in any case, I may consider something like 1 AP = 2 Extra/Hidden AP.

But that's enough about Awakening, what about Succession, to do this test I was using Prime: Boil of destruction, again because 100% critical probabilities, to test prime skills (succession Skils) and Absolute Multi Magic Arrow, to test Absolute damage, will use an Ad Shpere TRI vs +0, both using a Kzarka weapon

We will see first the damage from Prime skills

Well not surprising, Ad Sphera PRI takes all the claps, but the results are not the expected, we had only an increase of 14% from 88 AAP up to 168 APP a total of 80 AAP increase!!! to get a 14% increase, what this could be meaning? we have the same scenario of the two last tests, so we can be proving that we are only getting bonus damage from Hidden AAP while using our succession and hidden AP while using our awakening, and actual inactive AP/AAP really doesn't affect the damage well talk about this in the conclusions, let's see the absolute skill damage, remember we will be using Absolute: Multi Magic Arrow

Well not really a difference, I could say there is no significant, it could be even null damage,  increase from your awakening weapon while using absolute skills, and only the 4 all species extra bonus from the awakening weapon is being applied.

Conclusions

After all this test I can conclude the next:

Awakening skills:

- Gets most of its damage from your AAP.

- Hidden AP and hidden APP and extra AP from the weapon and other sources, accessories, sub-weapon, etc. increases the damage.

- Your AP doesn't really matter, or it's too low that doesn't represent an increase, to make a difference.

Succession Skills (Prime):

- Gets most of its damage from your AP.

- Hidden AP and hidden APP and extra AP from the weapon and other sources, accessories, sub-weapon, etc. increases the damage.

- Your AAP doesn't really matter, or it's too low that doesn't represent an increase, to make a difference.

Absolute Skills:

- Gets most of its damage from your AP.

- Only Hidden AP and extra AP from the weapon and other sources, accessories, sub-weapon, etc. increases the damage.

- Your AAP doesn't really matter, or it's too low that doesn't represent an increase to make a difference.

General:

- AP > extra/hidden AP, something like 2AP = 1 extra/hidden AP

- AP is either, a factor on damage formula, or it shreds through DP

Some advice, after all these new highlights I could say if you are going to use your awakening skills, you may focus on getting a dandelion and max it, with your accessories and sub, your main hand is your primary source of accuracy, and you may focus on it by the end, for succession you should be focusing on your main-hand because it's your main source of damage and accuracy, and your sub and accessories will come before your dandelion, you may be fine with your green awakening for a long time.

Also for green, we can say the best choice of all is the Elsh weapons, because the accuracy, almost the same as kzarka, I can say it may be even better and cheaper than Liverto, but hard to find because there is no way to farm it.
