I was thinking that a third skill line in addition of Succession and Awakened that we could have Divine.

From the perspective of the narrative, the idea is that our characters/classes have become powerful enough and famous/infamous enough to attract the attention of various gods. As well, I was thinking that in each classes case, the Divine skill line quest could have each class gain immortality either through divine blessings, binding oneself to a tree making oneself half spirit, Ancient technology, making oneself part elemental, and so on.

NARRATIVE:

In Sage’s case, I was thinking that he could attract the attention of an Ancient goddess of crafting. Essentially, a female Hephaestus for the Ancients. The reason for her enlisting Sage’s help being that she needs a mortal to help her finish one of her projects from the time of the Ancients.

At the start of the quest after speaking with the goddess, you go to various Ancient sites to kill constructs, kill a few mini bosses, and collect their parts. I was thinking that at each site, you could collect a special core from each of the mini bosses that, as soon as is collected, shows a scene from the past. The goddess falling in love with a mortal, having a daughter with them, and that daughter dying at the hand of a jealous rival.

Then she directs you an Ancient site that has a defunct portal, that needs to be repaired. You then use manufacturing in the processing menu to put all of the parts collected together to fix the gate.

After entering the gate, Sage arrives at the goddess’ lover’s workshop. At the center of which is a massive construct that needs to be destroyed.

Afterwards, you see why the “project” was left unfinished. The lover and the goddess were attempting to resurrect their daughter by placing her soul into a specialized construct. As the lover was about to finish bringing their daughter back, the rival found and attacked the workshop. The lover was killed, the jealous rival left a construct behind to kill anyone who might find the workshop, and broke the dimensional gate to the workshop so that not even the goddess could find or send anyone to find her lost daughter.

After  thousands of years, she finally found someone who could not only fix the gate but enter the workshop that was deliberately hidden in a pocket dimension by the lover to keep unfriendly gods and their enemies from stealing their work.

After seeing the goddess’s lover’s final moments, Sage finds the daughter’s new body on a nearby workbench. A construct that is designed to basically be metal human without legs, that floats in the air, is made entirely out of black stone with gold embellishments and runes, with free floating arms like many Ancient constructs, and a head with the metal forged to look like a bust of the daughter when she was first alive. In other terms, think of the construct as a black and gold breastplate with vambraces, gauntlets, a helmet made to look like a human face and hair, and no greaves or boots.

Next to which is a sphere with glowing golden runes all across it containing the daughter’s soul. As soon as Sage inserts the sphere into the construct’s chest, the construct lights up with golden light and floats off the table.

She is aware of what happened and has been dreaming of the outside world since before her fathers death. Expressing regret that her father could not see what he affectionately called “his greatest creation” come back to him.

Afterwards, she expresses her desire to leave with you and finally see the outside world.

Upon leaving the workshop, her mother appears and embraces her. Taking her with her into the heavens.

As a reward, the goddess leaves Sage with her lover’s notes and suggests that he use them for his own creation.

GAMEPLAY:

Gameplay wise, we saw Sage with the power of Zeus with his Awakening. The warrior and trailblazer, but now I think that it would be interesting to see Hephaestus the creator.

Sage uses the notes obtained to forge a great hammer that is part staff and part mobile forge. Designed with a core (like the daughter’s soul was contained in) that Sage has linked his soul into. The great hammer allows Sage to summon and control a construct modeled after himself that fight along side him and is what he does many of his ranged attacks through, can open up rifts that more single purpose constructs come out of (sort of like “Mark of Ator”) and can slam the hammer down for close range attacks. All of which are laced with blue soul fire. Sort of like how his Awakening attacks have lightning.
