Hey, I'm a returning bdo player...I'm just getting back from playing another mmo and miss this game. Immediately I noticed I only see maybe one to 3 people in towns max and when traveling to different cities I very rarely run past people vs back then you always seen other players traveling. Are these servers dead...I'm preparing for the season + to come out but I don't wanna grind and put in time to a game with dead servers vs all the other mmos I've played before coming back. Honest answers please

in the begining of the console life it was great plenty of people around.

where you can do both world bosses in the time frame but now it takes 20 minutes just to do kara which leaves you zero time to complete second world boss most of the time he just despawns.

with zero endgame besides grinding the same spots for just silver and no gear isn't rewarding for the time investment.

and the god awfull RNG on everything just give us chests where we can choose our rewards instead of this awfull system they have on boss loot or any chest based loot in the game.

and don't get me started on enhanceing where having 100 percent chance isn't really 100 percent, just another cash scam.

it seems console players aren't falling for this sub par loot system they have in place.

That's extremely frustrating, I know the servers are more populated cause seasons but I wonder just how many are new players vs older players seeking a benefit. I myself am a returning player and I'm very concerned about the games future

I think the biggest reason why nobody plays as much anymore is because of the lazy approach to optimization. People are sick and tired of how many years have gone by with no main focus on this issue. Their is no way we can play PvP in this game if this issue continues to be ignored week after week, month after month. November 11th is the first implimentation of some changes in large scale pvp to tackle the issues a little bit. If it does absolutely nothing, more people will leave.

Why waste your time the devs clearly showed me today money is more important they updated the pearl shop with upmost beauty and haste but I can't even play in HDR and the new content they brought in the game November 11th is all broken the doom cant use the two seater the manor quest is bug I mean it always just feels like bare minimum effort into these updates every time and not to mention since I've been playing this game there's not been an update where something hasn't gone wrong the day of release and takes a whole 3 days to be fully back to normal like everything about bdo is so buggy now while pc and mobile living their best life we get the sloppy seconds here on console to many minor problems eventually get annoying this game is dying and giving away free pen gear well cant say giving away because grinding for that "free pen" is ridiculous with the amount of failure everyone in bdo has gone through 1 boss gear at pen without all that silly hassle of go here grind this go here grind that so you can get play time on your servers is quite sad tbh its desperate it's the simple things that make people stay but the moment another mmo of this scale hit console and does better RIP bdo

Only five viable weapons and needing all five depending content played!

only eight viable pieces of armour but only need four unless you want couple builds or more! if gearing other classes!

nice diversity in regards to accessories for different builds/classes but need six!

This is the flaw of bdo; progression stagnates with no new armour and weapons released so players get stuck at TET armour weapons and TRI accessories, TET accessories if lucky!

Full PEN is only obtainable if your a whale or RNG favoured, grind eight hours a day, seven days a week, exceptions apply in a small minority!

So in a game with a gear cap and minimal gear the ceiling comes down quickly and it’s difficult to go beyond, frustrating and becomes suffocation, rather than enjoyment!

With gear score directly effecting PvP/end game, balancing PvP becomes a problem due to gear score wins, obviously this also causes the competitive nature to stagnate with only a minority benefiting how the games designed and if your a casual or do not have disposable income, the game becomes tedious, repetitive with nothing to chase or any other avenues to consider, before the usual suspects pipe their views I’ll explain the process!

Bare minimum items needed at PEN/Competitive end game!

Three weapons; Forty Billion

Four armour; Sixtly Billion

Six accessories; two hundred and twenty billion (Bare in mind these are bare minimum cheapest options with an ogre, no tungrad, distortion etc if you wanted those add another two hundred billion)

So just to grind the silver alone with season tuvala, a few weeks of play to get that armour full pen 540gs/+ depending adventure logs on the way!

Lets do the math and numbers with an average player, skill, skill point progression and not counting other factors like using food, elixirs, trying life skills etc and just the bare grind!

320,000,000,000 for bare minimum gear to reach competitive end game!

150,000,000 an hour in the new Valencia trash drops, Kamasylvia and Dreighan are far less and aakman/Hystria around the same and highly dependant on class, So were talking optimal grind as an average player!

320,000,000,000/150,000,000 per hour equates to 2133+ hours, no down time, travelling or experiencing any other part of the game!

If played four hours a day that’s 533+ days if played seven days a week!

Now you see the problem with bdo, so much to do and with so many things to do taking investment, time and resources, is it any wonder life skillets get grumpy with PvPers killing them, killing afk, smashing your boat, killing your horse and upsetting a casual grind!

On top of that they bring their guild after trolling to demolish an average player guild that tries to defend itself and then spouts toxic banter like get good!

Failure by design caused by failure in design, BDO in a nutshell is a test of failure in fun thus causes fun to be failure, do you really want to come back and play bdo.....

Thats the least of our worries, the performance need to be put first.  I should not be PvP'n on a MMO and have to turn off my effects just so the game dont crash.  Its 2021 i should not have to turn off 4k just so my game dont crash.  They dont have theae problems on ESO or neverwinter

Yeah Mvxxsnipez you have reiterated that after most concerns posted here, not everyone seems to have connection issues, but yes it’s a problem!

Not everyone has RNG issues either, but that also causes a problem with disparity, the way PvP balances and how a lot of players leave because this is a PvP game and reaching above a certain limit is near impossible and this causes frustration!

To add onto that, core stability is an issue I agree and needs to be addressed, but to say PvP, enhancing, getting the materials to level quest the new armour with 3-4K pre orders each, pearl shop having upgrade materials added to the packs like Hard and Sharp stones should not be looked at or other problems should be dealt with first, this thread seems to be about what’s changed, how the game is as in state of play and the list goes on!

i get it, stability is an issue, but I suppose your iteration after most posts just keeps this thread active so no harm done.

Lots of issues and as a post here already states, the pearl shop always seems to be ok, accessible and updated and that always seems to come first over any and all issues mentioned here and that’s the only one that should take a back seat over the rest!

A simple way to boost the amount of players online would be to have a title update on achievements or trophys but that would only bring a small amount of life back. for a short time. From what i've been told the EU server are far worse than the NA server and the Na server are empty. AS for black desert lack of different weapons and armor i whole hardly agree once you'r  all geared up you'r left with silver grinding which isnt bad but it does become awful boring on a daily routin. As for pvp i used to take part but it always seemed the guild leaders got the gains while the pawns simply were there to fill the ranks. Another issue i have is if you'r in a small guild you'r locked out of guild bosses which i think is a killer although the simple way to fix that would be to ether join a bigger guild or make you'r guild bigger or you could have the same set up as neverwinter such as alliances that only functioned for guild quest and bosses. what does the manor prepose even serve can you cook and do anything or real value in it. For the pvp aspect i would have it set up as ech class has a set ap and dp and everyone is the same level so it's based on skill rather than how big ones wallet is or how much time people have put in it but  that would be only used for a  few nodes that way the others can still go forth and flex. ( as dumb as that sounds). In neverwinter they had a guild castle/house that was all run down but the more you'r guild  put into it , it would slowly change which was great and it gave a sense of worth unlike just having the manor.

The manor is a prime example and missed opportunity that’s becoming tedious in this game, supposedly 50cp then changed to 5cp and a huge expense on decoration!

why not keep the 50cp as first intended and have the manor work as a manor would and should and give the players a benefit of occupying the land as a tax relief for the market place, have the tax based on the manors point system in tiers and tax relief per thousand upto the upper limit!

Example:

10.000 points 1% tax rebate

20.000 points 3% tax rebate

30.000 points 5% tax rebate

40.000 points 7% tax rebate

50.000 points 9% tax rebate

This could be cumulative upto the 25% thus receiving a rebate of the tax you pay on the central market after sales, bingo, a reason to invest, the manor serves a purpose and rewards the player for the investment and the manor is actually a manor!

Ive also gave suggestions regarding PvP to the effect your suggesting but only for sandbox PvP as I think those participating in guild wars deserve the income just for the sole reason that running a guild is a chore in itself!

General PvP and RBF should be about skill and not gear score, to many toxic flexors spouting get good when it’s a blatant Gs advantage and then apex toxic remarks like get better gear or buy gear with silver, which I’m assuming are the whales and lucky RNG carries fools that forget that some just don’t have the luck, playtime or investment to reach a level that’s restricted with a cash shop mind set!

played sense launch and after the last twelve months of failure after failure I’ve basically resided to the fact that RNG is a gamblers dream and the house always wins but for the very few and started on the new PEN quests, watch magical shards become part of future pearl shop packs it’s most certainly already thought about!

So first and foremost hello all my active players!
so I haven't been on in the last week and a half very much but I am 61 and have fully completed the season. The servers are back to not very populated. It's not as bad as previously...I feel as though some new players have chosen to stay so that's good news but I feel as though we are losing people daily and the more mmos release we lose more and more players. This server is on borrowed time and I do see it dying within the next year. I'll enjoy the game for now and hope that it returns but by December I'll likely return to ffxiv unless I see some changes or incentive to stay.

Endwalker drops next week!

Production can resume!

It’s only a matter of time!

I’d rather play a game that has a steady progression curve, than a stagnant end game that keeps us playing with a slow drip end game that becomes laborious, tedious and designed to spend and leave or invest and not want to leave due to the investment!

Sad how the many faults also become the excuse to keep us playing longer, holding back content to fix what’s broken whilst pushing the cash shop, week in, week out!

What’s really funny though, the statement in regards to the quested PEN armour and weapons; “we thought long and hard” on implementing those items, grinding them out would take years, thousands of pre orders and it’s become all to apparent the drip is end game, roll on 2023!

It's funny to me they waited till the END of 2021 November- December (Q4) literally last second (as usual) to do anything about the glaring gameplay issues that have plagued the game for years.

The irony of it, is that they halt the production of content just for us to be left with no noticeable optimization increase. And with RBF being gone, even less of a reason to play.

What a joke dude. Sorry isn't enough Pearl Abyss.

Free to play mmos, or those with a free to play store but are buy to play, always end up going this way. They can never be fixed after the fact because to be fixed they would have to redo their entire monetization system. Some big content update may bring a some back for a short time, but they'll leave again within a month or two.

The history of mmos can be seen in now defunct forums of those mmos, all having the same or similar criticism and arguments we all have for bdo now.

Calph ball somes it all up like there sad sentence what console can expect to see, "were working on optimization" with no when we can expect it or anything.

Exactly this and more!

Xbox content was held back to cater for the PS4 implementation  and also optimisation issues year one!

Year two again had optimisation issues and held back content to cater for console cross play!

Year three and again, held back content due to optimisation issues!

Annually, this game has optimisation issues that drag on for months on console , concurrent and repeated problems related to CPU in the first years were blamed on the console itself, now the problems are blamed on ISP/connection or cache build up but never on the development of the game, it seems that PA has no idea on how to develop for console and rather than say that, admit that and say they’re still learning, they would rather blame the console or the player base and basically say we are inept, have low IQ or that console devs don’t know what they’re doing either!

Cache clear can and sometimes will have the game run smoother, but once the console shuts down and reboots the problems are back; second to that PA designed the game for console (lazy port) knowing the machines limitations and thirdly, I’ve played mmo on consoles for decades and also the content heavy FFXI on the OG Xbox over twenty years ago and I have ‘never’ seen stability issues like the ones for this game!

I’m starting to think that the devs for BDO are just making excuses for their own ineptitude and blatantly ignoring the fact or are not aware of the fact that console has many mmo to date and none have the issues that BDO have!

ESO also has large scale PvP and the game is far larger in scale map wise, the sheer amount of content regarding gear alone included in the many DLC and expansions, all those new quests, side quests, mounts, trinkets, emotes and dances should in fact be causing more cache issues than BDO but funnily do not!

Its not the machine, it’s not the player and most definitely not ISP/connection!

Its an excuse to drip feed content to milk before the next wave of players leave/next wave of players join/come back expecting change!

This has happened every year since launch and most definitely a cash cow set up!

I too am a returning player, I played 3 years ago for around 6 months. Then I had some big personal life things, house fire and divorce, so I had to step away. I came back and joined this last season. It was an amazing experience, had a lot of fun getting back into the game. The game was still very populated, at first I d notice less people at like the Veila docks afk fishing. Use to be 20-30 people at any given time. Was half that. But then I notices something odd... People were actually playing the game actively. People out gathering, farming, grinding, playing. Joined a guild and it has 25+ active people on around the clock.

However I was filled in on the PvP players strike. Some nerfs or optimization issues, this complaint and that complaint. Mostly "I can't keep up with whales" literally from players with pearl shop wagons, all 4 pearl shops horses outfitted, fancy outfits on their character, and even found several resences with 20k+ points, 5 tier 4 pets, several sets of them. Watching these streams and veos of then crying and whining with thousands of dollars in pearl shop stuff, still somehow having the audacity to complain about people who spend more having some unachievable advantage. It was absolutely the FOMO in full effect, the illusion that anyone who out plays them d so due to pearl shop. It was pure cringe.

I do not and never will PvP in this game for many reasons. First I'm NA and this is a Korean game, they aren't ever going to move their servers to my basement. Second it's really not a good PvP game, never was. It's ganky, clunky, unbalanced, and just not even appealing in any competitive sense to me. I've expressed this plenty of times and get the response of "Oh well you're just not good", yet my team placed 3rd and 7th in the two trial tourneys we joined. So I know I'm not that bad for a lifeskiller lol.

The thing is for several years they catered to PvP crowd, change this, change that, buff here, nerf there. Always just rivers of tears and endless crying from the immature PvP crowd. Then they wisened up, started focusing on lifeskillers. Met with applause at every addition.

So yes, a chunk of the toxic crowd left. Thank the gods for that, it's been such a more pleasant experience now. Community, friendliness, helpfulness, less toxic chat. It's like it was a patch to fix the player base and it worked flawlessly. The forums however turned to the cesspool area, the amount of crying and whining. I'm quitting because this and that, hateful bitter little children. Who expect a parade for their announcement of quitting. Adults, we just quit a game when we no longer enjoy it. Ks need and crave that cringey farewell of a snotty face full of tears on the way out. It's so incredibly difficult to watch for me, as I've been gaming longer than most of them have been alive.

Bottom line is there isn't any MMO out there like BDO, I've tried most of them. This game is jam packed with depth, content, and entertainment.

I see plenty of people in this game, I do not see the doom and gloom of "Oh the game is dead" and the reality is my gaming experience I'm 30 years of playing games... Has prepared me for the inevitable approach to a salty quitter. They have to try to rationalize their departure by claiming everyone else has left or is leaving. Because if the game is "dead" or "dying" then they dn't actually quit, they just finished playing. It's a very awkward consistency from salty quitters and one I am personally immune to. Absolutely the game can be better, that's how veo games work, and BDO is constantly being upgraded.

Ultimately it's up to you on whether you enjoy the game or not. Don't like the RNG, be patient because everything is now achievable with minimal reliance on the RNG. My season char can take on every single PvE area, boss, anything with the FREE gear handed to me, some proper food buffs and potions. And I'm not even far off of the super gear grinders who try to muscle spots and people, as I've found at the hot spots.

So the game is perfectly enjoyable to many of us "left", made even better by the toxic crowd leaving.

Hi Bizzy and welcome back and glad your enjoying the game, you also make a lot of solid and valid arguments and aware of the state of play, I also definitely agree that the player base in general is less salty but a big factor for that and definitely welcomed was the age restriction placed upon bdo in parts of the EU due to how some of the cash shop boxes could be deemed as gambling etc and as a result the game as a whole feels less toxic!

Stability issues are apparent though on Xbox one and PS4 and have been since the fourth quarter year of release and PA definitely needs to pidgeon hole the exact problem and deal with it accordingly!

In regards to PvP others do like the game and a large portion of the player base engages in Node wars, siege and RBF albeit the RBF has been removed due to stability issues which as mentioned needs rectifying!

I’ll agree that those crying need to grow a collar but losing to gear score do have a point, balancing a game when GS dictates the outcome will be and always be a challenge due to that fact and I’m wondering if you know about the AP/DP bracket bonuses which make higher GS players even higher, thus creating a larger gap, thus causing and starting toxicity due to large disparities, larger guilds bullying lesser guilds and demoralising those players for many reasons and especially hearing ‘get good’ from an opposing guild player whose entry level to that guild is now 600+ and if that’s 55gs above season Tuvala and if just 25 of that is AP putting a player to 269 it’s not a straight forward 25 difference there are 6 brackets adding 8-21ap per bracket and actually totalling 93 AP bonus and plus the 25 that’s a whopping 118 AP difference and definitely should not be a thing when PvP is being considered, yes against monsters and the advantage of higher GS is going to higher zones to make more silver, but in PvP, why even balance at all, just using the word balanced is cringe!

I will however agree that those that spend the money deserve the power but at what cost to the player base, by the way the match in regards to paying to win comes in at a whopping 45k gbp and that’s even the best accessories as you can add another 20k if you want those!

Keep enjoying the game as you intend but don’t be blind due to your own enjoyment while others have stability issues if not owning a next gen console, once the other regions finally get released on console it might be worth noting 300+ gear is required, Tuvala cannot effectively grind stars end, gyfin or sycraia even with max buff and need repairs before an hour has passed. Mirumok down through the zones and also aakman/Hystria are definitely viable but again the closer to the 240ap bracket the repairs are needed hourly!

I agree, new and returning players can and will enjoy the game, the more new zones that come the toxicity that remains will diminish as the gap gets wider and the apex occupy and fight over higher GS zones, but let’s not become a mug and accept a game and it’s obvious stability issues as that holds content back, holds the toxic at a certain level and will and does cause frustration when we are actually paying for a service!

Im sure and certain that if your phone, television or internet provider had stability issues and booted you out of calls, from the internet or black screened TV, we would all be in the phone asking what the hell is going on with the stability and wanting a prompt fix!

It’s no argument in part but as a whole regarding the current state of play, but I’m glad your enjoying what you look for in your leasure time, peace!

Hello , for i just pick up play for an hour a day then jump on something else due to not having anything but to grind for bmc's since i've finished the daily monster killing for dust which gave me something to do on a daily bases and now i'm kinda lost in regards to what's next. I'm in a small guild which i like but being a small guild the down side is no one is on and i've tried the large guilds and thats a hard pass. I just wish there was an alliance system where smaller guilds could band together without merging since that doesnt work.

just try to use proxy server via https://buy.fineproxy.org/eng/uk-england-proxy.html to change the country of the server which can fix that problem.

cause sometimes your location can be a problem and you can easily fix that in 2 minutes.
