So I purchased pearls. They did not give me pearls. I restarted the game. Still nothing.

When you purchase Pearls, you get an in-game "Mail".
Open the in-game mail and choose to recieve the item attached to the mail.
Exit out of the in-game mail app and you will be able to locate the Pearls in your "Pearl" inventory.
