How many pets and of what tier is needed to successfully grind late game?

Is it a significant difference between having 4 tier 1 pets active versus having 4 tier 4 pets active?

At launch 3 tier 1 pets will be plenty....and probably the max anyway if it holds true to the pc. Your ap will be low enough that you'll be grinding in groups at soft cap so you'll have others looting with you anyway. 

Couple of tips

1. Buy 1 of each breed of pet 1cat, 1dog, 1bird (should be all we get at launch) 

2. When you get to choose loyalties pets pick 1 bird, 1 dog, 1 cat 

3. Use the free pets to breed with the pets you bought in the hopes of getting tier 3 pets without paying for rng

4. Buy the time the pet limit increases to 4 and then 5 we should have access to special pets like the polar bear, penguin, and hedgehog. You should be able to get a couple free ones but I'd recommend buying the hedgehog if you gather at all

And to help keep weight down

5. Always have special deals active when in groups. This will send non junk items to the market place reducing weight

6. Park a horse/wagon close by to store junk items when your weight gets high when your end game grinding. 

Doing these two things will allow you to grind longer without going overweight or running back to town without spending real money on the cash shop. If you choose to spend money on maids or weight then that will help even more

personally ill be spending hundreds on this game over my time playing but I refuse to pay for rng. I will not breed 2 tier 3 pets and take a chance of only getting 1 tier 3 pet in exchange. I will not buy horse skill change coupons and take a chance of learning the exact same skill I didn't want. The money I spend I want 100% chance to see value for my dollar......but that's me I'm sure there's plenty of people out there that don't mind gambling

So your saying buy tier3 pets...ok  but what does the maid do?

You can only buy tier 1 pets, what I'm saying is buy 3 tier 1 pets at launch and use the free loyalties pets to breed in the hopes of getting tier 3 pets. If your willing to pay for rng each shot at a tier 4 will run you around $30 on average and there's a chance you'll end up with only 1 tier 3 pet and your out your $30 for nothing. That's something I'm not willing to do!

The maids allow you to send 100 weight worth of junk to storage instantly allowing you to grind longer without running back to town to dump weight making your grind much more efficient.

Depends on class. You will out grind 3 tier 1 pets even on agile very quickly with some. Id say 5 tier 1 pets are needed to keep up with a grind of up to about 120ish ap. After that youll have to look at upgrading (could always do this with reward pets as well if loyalties carry over like on pc) its really based on your gear and potential skill as a player how much you will need. End game youll need atleast all tier 3 and if your decent youll out grind those as well. 

First thing I'm doing is praying to RNGesus and dropping $200 to see if I can get 5x Tier 3-4 pets. Had 5 Tier 4's on PC and it was well worth it, wouldn't be able to grind any other way now lol.
