Updates [Update] Patch Notes - April 5, 2023
Black Desert 2023-04-05 00:00

Adventurers,

Today's update includes new class, Maegu and a spring season update.
We hope that you look forward to even more exciting adventures in the game.

The Fox-summoning Do Wielder of the Jwado School, Maegu

Black Desert's 26th new class, Maegu has been released.

After Woosa’s release, many adventurers displayed great interest in her older twin sister, Maegu. We’d like to thank all of our adventurers for their patience. First off, Maegu’s main weapon is the “Foxspirit Charm.” Her inherent traits include the ability to summon an “illusory double” and being a ranged character who utilizes agile movements to perform a flurry of spectacular spells.

Though her double only appears for specific skills, the double is marked on the minimap and also retains the her Family, character, and Guild names, allowing her to cause great confusion among her enemies. Maegu can also switch places with her double with the tap of a button. We look forward to seeing the creative PvP tactics our adventurers will discover while playing as Maegu.

In addition, during her the development process, we placed strong emphasis on her combos and agililty. Maegu has several movement skills that can be easily comboed into other skills in her arsenal, enabling her to boast a rather fast-paced playstyle. Once our adventurers get used to her gameplay, they will be easily be able to dish out quick and critical combos. To balance such such advantages, we made some of her more powerful skills have longer casting times, all while keeping her level of entry not too difficult, especially for PvE.

Today's patch added Maegu's Lv. 56-58 enhanced (Rabam) skills and two Prime skills.

First off, we designed her Lv. 56 Rabam skills to be comboable with other skills. The Front Guard and Super Armor of her Lv. 57 Rabam skills were respectively designed to add some utility to bolster her stability when necessary. Last but not least, her Lv. 58 Rabam skills include Spirit Sparks, which will boost her melee defense with Front Guard and HP Recovery, and Soul Charm, which can be useful when used as Maegu re-enters the fray thanks to the HP Recovery effect.

Her Prime skills include Prime: Fan of Flames, a ranged attack that reduces your enemy's movement speed to keep them at bay, and Prime: Nukduri Dance, which deals melee damage with an AP Increase buff that can be used in all directions

Once again, thank you for all your interest and love towards Maegu. We hope our adventurers enjoy playing our new character. Thank you.

In addition, contents updates that were mentioned during 3rd anniversary stream such as 5th Tier Pet, and Adventure journals that can acquire Family AP/DP are currently being tested. We will inform you through additional notice once the preparation is completed and the update schedules are confirmed.

Spring Season Begins!

Today's update marks the beginning of the "Spring Season."
Since last Autumn Season, we've been adding improved Life-skilling content such as increased items collected from Gathering including seasonal enhancement materials on the season servers. The theme for the Spring Season is "Fishing."
First off, we decided to increase the amount of Combat EXP gained from Fishing threefold, thereby encouraging adventurers to branch out to different playstyles to avoid feeling restricted to PvE content for growth.
We've also added the coelacanth to the seasonal waters, which can be exchanged for "Dreamy Crystals of Balance," items that grant guaranteed enhancement of Capotia accessories. We've also greatly reduced the difficutly of the weekly season quests that awarded you with seasonal enhancement materials as well. We hope that all of these quality-of-life improvements will enhance your new season character's lifestyle in the Spring Season.
  • Spring Season has sprung. (Apr 5 2023 (Wed) after maintenance - Jun 28, 2023 (Wed) before maintenance)
    • You gain boosted EXP when playing on a season server, where you can equip "Tuvala gear" to quickly level up your season character while completing the season pass.
    • Select "Season Character" in the Character Creation menu when creating a new character to access the season servers.
    • Season characters can access both season servers and normal servers. Normal characters cannot access the season servers.
    • Season characters can only equip seasonal gear issued by completing the main questline and cannot mount up on Dream Horses.
    • For more information, please refer to the Adventurer's Guide - [Season Servers & Characters].
    • With the start of a new season, several servers have been changed to Season servers.

[Spring Season] Recurring Weekly Season Quest Improvements

We've reduced the number of monsters required to be subjugated for the weekly season quests. We originally designed these quests to require numbers befitting the amount of Tuvala enhancement materials they awarded, but, as with all things with the passage of time, we felt the numbers to be a bit too high. It was good to see adventurers banding together in platoons to subjugate the mushrooms, but we felt it was time to give a fighting chance to individual adventurers as well.
  • Adjusted the following weekly season quest objectives for the Spring Season.
  • You can proceed with one of the following quests for weekly reoccuring quests:

New and Improvements

Warrior
Succession
Prime: Spinning Slash
  •  Fixed the issue of command keys listed in the tooltip description of Prime: Spinning Slash having no effect.

Tamer
Tamers have always had movement options limited to solely the Evasion and Legendary Beast's Power skills. Particularly known for "hopping" around with forward Evasion, the lack of any defensive effects at the end of the skill was a clear Achilles Heel of the class.
To address this weakness, we decided to grant her the Super Armor effect at the end of Evasion, while slightly increasing the Stamina cost. We also improved Tree Climb to further bolster any areas where Tamer’s movement skills were lacking.
For Succession, we changed the defensive effect for Prime: Roaring, one of her major skills, into Super Armor so that Tamer would have the means to deal damage for both individual and group skirmishes.
Also, we noticed that Prime: Allround Spinner wasn't being used as frequently, so we adjusted the skill to now maintain Forward Guard while dealing a decent amount of damage.
For Awakening, we changed the starting portions of Skyreach to now grant the Invincibility effect, thus allowing the Tamer to utilize this skill to either break through or retreat from enemy lines.

We've increased Corsair's Succession and Awakening capabilities for PvE.

Drakania
Today's update for Drakania improves her performance for both Succession and Awakening in PvE.
For Succession, the damage of Brimbolt Strike has been increased to have an overall impact on PvE. As for Awakening, we have reduced the cooldown for one of her major skills Dragonblood: Sundering Roar to strengthen her performance in PvE.
We previously made small changes to the action animations of her Succession skills. Drakania wields the two-handed sword known as slayer, and we aimed to make the animations feel a bit smoother rather than feeling heavy like a greatsword.
However, some adventurers felt that the emphasis on smoothness was too strong, thus in today's update, we have made adjustments to certain skills to give them a more pronounced impact. Players may feel that the attack speed or combo speed has increased due to these changes, but please note that such is not the case.
Main, Succession
  • Slightly adjusted the attack animations of the following skills.
    • Drakania's animations such as when preparing and commencing an attack have been given a slight boost to feel more impactful.
