GM Notes [GM Note] First to Level 66!
Black Desert 2021-05-31 00:00

Adventurers,

In just a blink of an eye we have gone from celebrating the first level 65 character on Black Desert console, to celebrating not one, but two players who have reached level 66 on their characters. Gladurdead (AKA Enter_TheeAbyss) and Xeznia (both character and family name).

Gladurdead was the official first level 66 character in Black Desert, and plays on the North American server on Dark Knight.

Shirna: So, Enter_TheeAbyss is a Dark Knight, what drew you to the class?

Gladurdead: I’ve never enjoyed playing heavy casters or rangers, and generally I always gravitate towards melee classes. But I always liked the magical aspects of classes, and when I saw that Dark Knight was a magic based sword-wielder, it was love at first sight. The class feels like it’s designed for fun, and while it may not be the best in any aspect, it is always different in the right way. They way her moves work together make grinding feel different each time I play, and that is why I enjoy the class.
Shirna: What drove you to go for 66?

Gladurdead: The community that built around the challenge. From the people in the screenshot to the dozens more that were pushing me to hit 66. I feel like I did it more for them than myself at times because they were awesome! Hitting 66 is more than my achievement, it’s theirs too.
Shirna: So how did you do it?

Gladurdead: I was buffed for a majority of it. 530% EXP scrolls, free exp boost scrolls, old moons, Book of combats you name it I was running it! Everything went on to my main to make sure that she would level. But I barely spent anything on the Book of Trainings, maybe like 2,000,000,000 silver over the last 10 months?
Shirna: Grinding to 66 is no easy measure, why would you try it?

Gladurdead: Even before BDO, I love grinding. It’s a relaxing thing to do. When I heard about the levelling system in Black Desert, I had to see it for myself. But when I got to trees, and the more community side of the levelling experience with everything wanting to help me out, it was a joy.
Shirna: So, grinding is your thing, which spot is your favorite?

Gladurdead: Honestly, anywhere. Maybe the easiest way would be to talk about the one I don’t like, which is Tshira. It’s just too gloomy. Anywhere else in the game though I could grind for days as it is fun for me.
Shirna: So, I’m guessing you have made quite a few gains, what is your gear score looking like?

Gladurdead: I’ve been pretty blessed by RNG, I’d currently at 295/299/332 Kutum, and managed to one tap both my PEN distortion attempts. All I’m missing now is the PEN rings and a Blackstar.
Shirna: Any final words?

Gladurdead: Honestly, I can’t thank Tornadoes, Ariedne, PsychoPoke, WildZoro, CherryCrushh, YuutaTogashi or any of the people who would grind with me day in day out enough. 66 was a solo goal, it was something I wanted to achieve within a year of playtime and we managed that. Eventually though it turned into something for them too, and without those people I 100% could not have reached it. So all I can say is thank you, all of you.

Xeznia was the first to reach level 66 on the European servers. Although a couple of weeks behind Gladurdead, 66 is an absolute milestone and being the first on the European server is a huge accomplishment.

Shirna: When did you decide to focus on levelling?

Xeznia: It all started when training dummies came out, letting me AFK throughout the day while still gaining combat exp, allowing me to focus on University from September through till march.
Shirna: How did you manage to get through and level all the way to 66?

Xeznia: I would keep my Dark Knight on the training dummy 24/7, selling gear and rebuying, and then buying low-priced items on the Central Market and selling them when they went up in price. During the weekends, I would hop on and do siege.
Shirna: What kind of buffs were you using and did you spend everything on training books?

Xeznia: Yes, I did use buffs, but this was all on the training dummy. I already had 2700sp from grinding from 62 to 63, so I can already max out the skill tree. I saved about 106 530% scrolls till I was at 65.75%, and then used roughly 80 to rush the last part on dummies. So basically 0 to 95% of level 65 to 66 was purely on the training dummies.
Shirna: So, what's your gear at the moment?

Xeznia: 277/281/302. I have PEN Kzarka, TET Fiery Nouver, C3 Dande, TET armors rings and belt, TRI Capotia Necklace, and a TRI Capotia Earring and a normal Capotia Earring.
Shirna: So why did you choose Dark Knight?

Xeznia: When I first started Black Desert, I viewed all the different weapons and abilities, then stuck with DK since then. It will probably be my forever class.
Shirna: Why did you decide to go for 66?

Xeznia: Seeing the number go up was incredibly satisfying. It seems a bit farfetched, but using training dummies non-stop eventually stacks up a lot of Combat EXP, but it does cost a lot of silver. I would keep selling my gear and rebuying it, and repeated this cycle throughout. I may actually continue to do this, but now that my current year of university is done, I may grind and be active again!
Shirna: Any last words?

Xeznia: Big massive shoutout to my guild ‘Blank’ and those who came to Miru to watch me hit the last 0.003% on 14th of April 2021 6:45 pm UK GMT from level 65 to 66: https://youtu.be/cXwaaxCf1tk
Cannot forget to shout out the 1 single training dummy I used 24/7 in Velia in front of the skill instructor on my main server Valencia.
