So I am a huge MMO fan/player over ten years. Ive played a lot of different MMOs. I loved Black Desert Online when it came to PC but due to my son been born and moving home and a new job i have been off the scene for awhile. When I heard bdo is coming to Xbox i was so happy as these days any gaming i do tends to just be console now. In my opinion, bar elders scrolls online i dont think console has had an awesome big MMO, im wondering, do you guys think this is it?

Do you think like on PC, this game will be as good and as successful?

I know TERA has failed. Will this fail?

Well x is pretty strong. If there is a high concentration of players it can get laggy, but your less likiely to get server kicked. I've been in both terra and eso. I must say on eso with the enhanced  it perfoms better than non enhanced eso did. I think bdo enhanced wil have advantages. I don't think you go wrong getting an x jusr for the performance boost cant go wrong.  I think pa devs have worked hard with msft and xbox, taking their time. They may have worked hard to avoid previous mistakes. Looking at past video's they are constantly changing, and improving the pc version, thats good I think????

TERA had two shoddy betas, and then a couple weeks later (by complete surprise) "It's releasing tomorrow!". The game has been butchered over the years, too. Leveling through Battlegrounds or the streamlined questing which had you avoiding most zones ruined any and all chances of immersion. 

It was rushed out the door with no care, probably to beat Black Desert's original release date. The fact Black Desert actually has X1X enhancements and has had a presence at all major Xbox functions should tell you it is a far better deal.

TERA is dying, and the devs were just milking what they could. I mean, they just opened a new SEA server after all these years. It won't sustain a long-term, healthy playerbase, but it might earn a few bucks before the well runs dry.

TERA was like a old mouldy piece of bread in some smelly dumpster. Black Desert is the most delicious Krabby Patty you will ever eat. 

Tera uses UE 3 a very old and MMO unfriendly engine while BDO uses engine developed by PA specifically for this game and its constantly updated.

expect it to run like garbo durin the beta. everyone should expect crashin and poor perf from ne beta no matter how old or new. i will truely be shocked if the game actually runs smoothly on the console in and out of high pop areas.

things u can do to help are blow ur console out (they get filled with tons of dust over time) and use a cat6 ethernet cable (not wireless!). everything after that point is anyones guess really but both of those things keep me from gettin booted from eso while tons of others drop all the time. this shouldnt be ne diff.

They already openly said game runs smoothly in places without players but when there is a lot of players on screen it has performance issues but they also said they are working on it and that was a few months ago.

There has been a closed beta test for a month, there working on making it as good as possible imo.

I also would recommend upgrading bc the og one has problems sometimes in large scale battles in eso.

a handful of in house dev/gamers vs a hoard of gamers from all over the world and . which group is more likely to find the bugs??

based on the post by simon the test ran for a few days to a week and then ended which is why he posted saying the data collected during the closed beta needed to be looked at which in his words will "take some time" to complete.

oh god i dont even wanna try to remember the OG xbox one lag fests that happened in cyro or main towns. it was BADDDDDDDDDDD. it stayed that way long after the release of the game too which is y i got turned off of the game all together and have been waitin for bdo since they announced that it was comin to consoles. all we can do is wait and see what happens.

even with the initial small scale beta i expect it to run like garbo. this is the first only large scale test they have had with the game on console. its expected to run slowly with many people around but i wont pretend that it will run bug free or anywhere near how it runs on PC. terra saw a lot of improvement between the tests. they did one and it was horrible...no one could travel ne where and folks kept droppin outta the game because people were afk in the main town. they did a second test soon after that added instances and also addressed issues with lag effecting players ability to use the bird to travel our of the town and while it wasnt perfect it was a huge improvement especially in such a short period of time.

OBT - CBT compared to Full Release truly needs to be experienced at each stage differently during BDX solid growth period/transition. Embrace the lag while PA faces every obstacle that has been a uphill struggle/battle for all console MMO's.

Tera - No comment...

Well i have enjoyed tera PvP and leveling with non target, after all it was something new, if not the lack of content it would be good.

Whilst I can't speak for the performance on the Xbox One X in regards to  BDO, I can say with absolute confidence that  Black Desert Online is not going to fail like Tera. Teras performance for a start was spotty and pretty bad and still isn't great. Like someone said in the post here Tera uses UE3, Not optimal at all for mmorpgs, while Pearl Abyss have their own graphics engine. I do recall in the earlier days of BDO on the PC that the performance in towns like Calpheon in particular was pretty bad. But that was addressed and is now a thing of the past. You just need to look at the massive success the BDO has seen on the PC, and to this day it's active. Just need to see how active the chats are there day and night on the servers. Nevermind the constant crap talk lol .

If you check out some of the recent gameplay Vids from the Xbox one X such as this one here I posted below. You can see how well it already runs, And that vid is in 4K. I have owned my Xbox one X for a little over a week now and I have a mostly "PC" gaming background. I have a great gaming PC. But there is just something about consoles that I always loved. And the XB1X is a fantastic console, coupled with a 4K HDR display it looks stunning. And the price of 4K displays are dropping a lot now also. I highly recommend you grab a XB1X, even older games have seen a good performance boost with the X. It's a very capable console and compared to my PS4 Pro she runs SO quiet.

I have played Black Desert on the PC since launch it's one of my ALL time fave mmorgps, a game that doesn't force you into any particular playstyle. I've always felt relaxed when I play BDO. From AFK processing to active fishing hotspots and trading my fish in Valencia with the desert buff to grinding EXP with my toons, the combat NEVER gets old. I'm looking forward to it on the X as well.

Now for this upcoming "Open Beta" I see this as more of a massive Stress test to see how well their servers handle this huge influx of people, and there will be masses of them. I'm going in with low expectations really but quitely confident I think it would be foolish of any one of us to go into an Open Beta of this scale and expect zero issues. But I do feel the X will handle this game amazingly well. The gameplay vids don't lie. So all in all coming from a PC gamer for so many years. I highly recommend an Xb1X .

I think the biggest thing people have to try and remember with the BDX vs Tera conversation is simply this too. Tera's main flop here on console was their lack of content updates. When you capped yourself to 65 with 424 gearscore it was a hard cap. There wasn't anything left to do, period.

BDX has so much more to offer, with the job settings and such, and much much more "Endgame" options. Not to mention the grind of it all too.

The biggest and 2nd most played mmo is FF div not elder Scrolls I'm on same situation as you but I can say BDO in Xbox is a amazing step in mmo industry after nearly 20 years I see my self as happy as when I played Ragnarok online for the first time looking forward to take this game serious

I hope that it runs well on the Xbox S. So I won't be forced to upgrade to the X just for smooth gameplay.

if you have doubts about the performance then why not simply wait until OBT videos get uploaded to YT and watch the gameplay and fps in crowded cities?

Ugh do I miss FF XI!!!! Reading your post made me think about those days. XIV was cool in its own way too. A major agree with you about the amazing step. Really dig your post and its nice to see another old school MMOer.

Yeah I miss playing a mmorpg for long time, been a pc user and loving mmorpgs, playing in a console the black desert might be a progress, anyways hope we see each other in game

This can also be tied to what region you play in. A game like BDX however should be blooming with players due to it's nature of being an mmo. ESO as an example never feels empty and it's been going strong for years now.

Maybe but its only the feeling it gives the game has a shi ton of bugs  and it makes the pvp unplayeble and i spent aroud 2k hours and my nb only 

While I love Elder Scrolls Online like a lot of people, I actually still like Tera and also Skyforge, even though they aren't as good or popular as ESO and Black Desert. They all feel kind of unique from each other so I try to share the time between them when I can but black desert would definitely be my top MMO.

Skyforge actually has my favorite class in any mmo i've ever played, the Witch(ironic, no?). I just wish there was more to do in the game after beating the story. All the group activities seem way too easy, kind of drains the fun, and the PvP is rather bland. Still loved the game though, the recent updates have made it a lot better too.
