I am not sure if this has been suggested or not in the past.  But I'm looking to liven up pvp quite a bit and a strategic area or server to do so in. 

This is an idea from another game just more suited to bdo.

 

But anyway I want to see some kind of factions in BDO with pvp ranks to increase stats each rank giving you a certain number of points to choose what stats you would like to add or bonuses to certain resistance or debuffs.  To get these points you have to kill people of the opposite factions.  Doing so also rewards exp and skill exp as well.  But exp is safe as well as items, gear, crystals being safe during faction combat.

 

To cause people to come into contact with each other super often, there will be towers that change color based on which faction holds them.   Multiple towers to create flow of traffic going between them quite far apart.  You can see them on the map and what color they are.   As each faction holds these towers a progress bar is shown that shows the players own faction progress but not the others sides progress.  A tower defeated adds to the progress and then starts slowly adding progress over time.  Each tower has an independent timer before it can be attacked by an opposite faction once a faction captures it.   Once the faction progress bar is filled that faction gets an hour of extra stats, exp, life exp and other bonuses.  While that faction has those bonuses the towers are not seen or cannot be attacked.   There will also be a main tower that gives significant faction progess when destroyed.  Which will usually be the main focus.

 

Kill bonuses will go to 1 million kills or more.  30-50 ranks with different colors and symbols.  Each rank giving the player an option to use the allotted points for what they desire for their character.  Higher ranks giving bigger bonuses.  Lower ranks being easier to obtain but each rank requiring a significant amount of kills more than the previous rank.

 

Kills cannot be gained outside of faction area.  Can either be a new type arena or implemented into the Arsha server.  But needs to have significant traveling distance between towers.  Spawn points are at the main faction base.  Or can be resurected in place by another player's ability of the same faction.

 

Factions can either be chosen each week or automatically assigned to keep the numbers on each side more even.  If automatic it can be based off player activity and gear score.  Making each side as rounded as possible.

 

Raids of up to 30 people will make it so everyone in the raid within range of the kill will gain that kill.   Parties give the kills as well.

 

The game this idea comes from is Shaiya.  But you start the game off on opposing sides and it's player controlled on what side gets the most players as well as the most powerful players.   High pvp ranks does make pve quite a bit easier.  And there are pvp bosses aimed at pvp players.   The amount of time to get to max pvp rank is pretty long.  Most players stop because the sides are so uneven.  Which I would suggest weekly automatic sides.  Gear score + time offline separated as evenly as possible.  Players in the same guild could end up on opposing sides.  Which would make it fun still. 

 

There are other games that have implemented things like this too.  But Shaiya is the one that started this type of pvp I believe.  Quite fun for sure and once they implemented ranks, it drew a lot more pvp.

 

Edit: So the best way would probably be a large scale arena and once the player enters they are randomly put into a faction based on gear score to keep the factions even in numbers and power.  They remain in that faction for a week.   At the end of the week the winning faction wins prizes to draw more players to it.  While in faction arena opposing players names are all seen as that faction.  So players do not know who they are facing, just that they are facing other players.  Factions could be called things like Sun, Moon, Earth and so on.

To keep people from abusing the gear score system by just taking gear off before entering to get into a certain faction easier the game would keep an average gear score over the course of the week.  Players would be put into certain unseen brackets based on gear score any players of the same bracket het moved to the next available faction.  Anybody under a certain gear score are all in the same bracket.
