I have 2 XB1s; mine(gold account) and my son's (home xb1). Family sharing is one of the main reason we switched from PC to XB1. Even though it is a basic piece of the platform, many developers 1) don't adequately test it and there are strange problems because of it or 2) intentionally try to skirt it like ESO. Most games with a cash shop circumvent the Family sharing because they force you to buy unlocks in the cash shop. But what they often forget is that MAYBE I want to buy a pack for my son's account and I am unable to because the game "thinks" it is already purchased.
I want to buy the ultimate pack and realize that none of the consumables will transfer to my son. Here are my questions:
- Will he have access to the base game?
- Will he have access to anything else in the packs
- If I want to buy 2 ultimate packs will I be able to?
I'm pretty sure he will have access to the game but without anything else. And I don't think you can buy two packages on your accounts but you can maybe use the gift option to your son's gt?
1. Yes According to their AMA, NO game sharing will be available
2. We will have to see how this developer sets their items up (I would say items that are sent in the games mail system would likely be excluded) Nope
3. Yes
Do you think the single ultimate pack purchase would give us both 72 hour head start? These are the types of issues that are never really answered or tested and where I run into problems in other games with similar cash shops/packs.
Well I bought the ultimate ed...I guess I will have to wait and see how this works. When it's a game that I want and am willing to pay for it's not that big of a deal. The REAL problem is when it is a game that my son wants that is bought through my account exclusively for him. Often my account gets all the goodies and he just gets the base game....but not ALWAYS. I love family sharing and like I mentioned it is a major reason we switched platforms but it doesn't always work the same and it is really cumbersome to continually search, post, and research how XYZ game will deal with family sharing.
Every thing that we get with each pack in a one time use only once you receive them. And one time use with each Character.Your son will only have access to just the game alone, and nothing else.He will have to have a separate Xbox account and another copy of the game for him to have access to the extra stuff

I too have this issue... now that my two children are getting into gaming i have to buy on two accounts since you can only share to one xbox and i have 4. Even blackops this year who usually let every user have the full access only allowed game and map dlcs and not the preorder stuff. Eso was the worst because of the dlcs and chapters and sub and imperial edition AND any race any alliance. I feel your pain. Id count on him just getting basic game access and hope that it will be early as well.
Game you can share, but pre order item's will be account locked by the looks of it...

I’d ask on Reddit for their Thursday AMA as there’s no way to know what they will do and how they will handle “add on” content over Xbox live as that’s up to the developer regarding sharing.
(Edit) According to their AMA, No sharing...I do think its worth asking the xbox team so I will as I'm not sure if this developer is basing their answer off how they hope it will work. The same response came from the Elder Scrolls Online devs and later we learned they provided the wrong answer.

I mentioned this in another thread but if this game does NOT share it will be the first game to circumvent the Xbox Platform feature. It clearly states on the Xbox site that ALL digital purchases share. This is a feature/selling point of the Xbox. Microsoft needs to enforce this feature, ie if you want to be on the Xbox platform you abide by the platform features. If not, then there needs to be a very clear way to identify that a game does not support the feature.
For me, I simply will not support games that circumvent this feature. I've stopped buying anything from ESO that doesn't share...which is basically everything.
You said you are going to submit a question for the Xbox team? Let us know what you find because I'm sure there are a number of people that would like to know. Thanks!

The official response did not specifically address the question. Here’s my interpretation:
The base game will operate the same as other digitally owned games.
More specific, they have 4 different skus for the game and 3 of which can be purchased.
As a result, it would appear that the Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate skus are not going to be shareable, however the included sku that comes with each but not sold separately would fall under the information we see here: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/games/game-setup/my-home-xbox
From what you wrote, it may be best to wait and see. That’s the position I’m taking as this touches on so many other concerns of developers being out of touch with the platform they’re releasing games under.
Maybe see how the Final Demo they are talking about will work...

No. Thats incorrect. This game will be linked to an account. Owning it on your home account wont give access to the others on it. If its linked to an account then noone else will be able to login to play but the account that purchased it. The beta tells you nothing. Its an open beta. Anyone can play it so it would work for all accounts regardless

I understand as we are all going off the same information however that isn’t how Xbox one games work so...I’m just going to wait and see.
Even the Xbox leads have said “all” games allow it so...we will see...or y’all will see perhaps is what I should write
i won’t be buying it if that’s the case as it could mean other things may not be as Xbox one intends

Well, I saw where they stated that bdx won't be shareable between accounts on one console, that's sounds just wrong, and I highly doubt it.
As for in game content, it's normal that its account bound, otherwise one could buy ultimate on console with 9999 accounts and sell them
Do you think that creating another character would be sharing the pre-order benefits? I mean, I would like to begin as a Sorceress but later I would like to play as Ranger. Will I have the pre-order benefits with my Ranger char once I used them with Sorceress?
Best regards!

No. Preorder benefits should come via mail system. It is your choice on what character to use them on. You should be able to storage the items and use them whenevr youd like. Some items like pets and horses are shared by the family “account” some are character only like costume and horse flute.

Can confirm it is entirely possible. You should be able to open and download the the game on other xboxs and account because thats how consoles work. But wont get past the login screen if they make it account link bound. There are other xbox games like this. They tie the account to the server regardless of ownership of the game. ESO does this to limit there “chapters” to accounts only. BDO has always done this even on PC. If you download the game but dont have an active account you cant get in.
That being said, you could be right and then you just lose out on the cheap bonuses and buy them full price for the account that gets left out. Youll end up paying almost double though. In my views not worth the chance

ESO base game shares. I can confirm this. I've been following the family sharing very closely for a couple years now because I completely switched from my PC gaming to Xbox as my son got older BECAUSE of the family sharing feature. As a matter of note, Xbox states that games bought digitally from the Xbox store shares. When I bought ESO Gold from the store, it technically should have shared but it didn't. My son got access to the base game but only I got access to the "Gold" DLC.
As I mentioned before if BDX doesn't even share the base game, this will be the first time I am aware of a game not sharing. Here is the article that clearly states you can share. They have actually updated the text on this now and it states that some digital purchases may not share. This is new language that has been added in the last year. Before it said, ALL digital purchases share.
