I want to inform the new players here that are thinking of playing on their opposite region, that its best to stick to the region you are playing from.
In other outdated console mmos with the slow boring combat *cough*eso&neverwinter*cough*, the ping difference might not feel like a big deal, but in BDO this is a whole different story.
When you start BDO for the first time, the combat will feel new and it will be a learning curve to get combos right, but this will improve so much over time as you play.
And believe me, the combat in bdo will blow you away once you get used to it, the skill level and how you feel absolute control of your character, and how you improve, puts other mmos to shame.
Because of the superior combat BDO has to offer, with fast paced combos (depending on classes), cc, and player movement, the extra ping you get if you play on the opposite region WILL hurt you with more desync.
So If you are from EU, play EU, and the same for NA. Then you will get a much better experience
You need to preorder the game from the correct location to get your bonus items on your server region
when i tried to play on a different region for pc the 210 ping made combat laggy, do not try it or you regret it
low ping is much better if you want to pvp and game to be as smooth as possible
the different timezone for nodes and world bosses sucks if you play on the wrong region also
I plan on staying on my region anyways i prefer not to lag tyvm

thank me later
So glad someone else agrees. When I said it on discord everyone shot me down lmao.
It's good if you dsync out of grabs though
it kinda sucks that the ping drops between servers. I have friends the will end up on the eu server while i'm on na. we do plan on playing together but I don't mind losing ping if they can be happy with the game
The native input lag on console was noticeable in the beta. Even with maxed Cast Speed, I could tell there was a bit of delay. A lot of your abilities are slightly buffered, and it made a noticeable impact on how I played my Sorc.
I can back up OP - pick your region carefully. Server quality won't be anything remarkable to begin with, and if you lag you're in for a pretty terrible gameplay experience. Desync in this game will sap your motivation to play.

same here
i would pick the server with the best ping
playing bdo with the extra ping from the wrong region is like picking a 20 year old broken car instead of a new Lamborghini lul
in bdo you want to have as low ping possible. anyone that doesn't play on their closest region server will have a harder time
I agree with the OP. You will be at a disadvantage. Be careful, you only get one preorder bonus, so Ultimate bundles, thats your Only Shudad you will see. Don't waste it on a guess.
FPS matter, Ping matters, but if you don't plan to be top notch and just want to hang with friends you have nothing to worry about.

Yeah, picking the correct region for the lowest ping is crucial if you're planning to be competitive, especially for PVP.
BDO with good pings is what makes the combat really stand out and feel great. Higher pings causes more frustration
Besides friends in other countries, there's no real reason to play in a different region tbh
