Greetings Devs,

I played the Black Desert beta on xbox twice now and have a love/hate feeling towards the game atm. The game itself is wonderful, but I find the UI very distracting and the options to adjust it just as limiting. Below are some suggestions I would like to see implemented before I purchase the game. These should be easy fixes and would not interfere with others so I hope you take them into consideration and get yourself another customer.

Suggestions

An ability to hide the self target health bar and name plate

An ability to get rid of the blue guide arrow that still persist even after turning navigation assistance off completely

An ability to hide the action bar for potions and menus

An ability to turn off blue ring that appears around characters both self and npcs.

An ability to customize the cross hair symbol and size

An ability to adjust size of the "Hold Y" pop up display on item/npc interaction.

I do really enjoy this game, but these simple things keep me from being immersed in the experience and as of current, from purchasing it.

User Interface Issues with Suggestions:

1. It is really confusing having to switch between LT, LB, and D-pad when talking to a merchant NPC to navigate options to the desired area. I'd suggest please standardizing these buttons, or better yet, make it only one button to navigate between individual item selection.

  • Bonus: by doing this, you could then use another button to switch between original menu items .
(e.g. If you chose Shop with D-pad, you could use the RT to switch to Repair, Conversation, Extraction, etc.)

2. It would be much less menu switching if Buying/Selling were the same window, as it is in PC, because Modals/Windows are much more difficult to navigate in XBOX than in PC.

  • Bonus: if you were to use one button for selection movement, you could then utilize the third button for switching between active windows, rather than individual space selections. (e.g. Use D-pad to select individual inventory spaces and the LB/RB to switch between buying/selling window)

3. I find the Marketplace extremely difficult to navigate between managing your warehouse, moving gold, transferring to my personal inventory, canceling a pre-order. Using the above methodology for standardizing buttons for menu movement (as above: D-pad for individual squares, LB/RB for switching between central market, checking buy/sell status, and manage warehouse, and LT/RT to switch between the previous NPC menu item)

4. I find the user interface for choosing interaction between PCs/NPC cumbersome because if you accidentally click Y one too many times, due to lag, you have to go around again. I find this happening more times than not and is especially annoying for NPCs that have lots of menu items (e.g. horses, etc.). Instead of using the same button 'Y' for doing both selection and activation, please allow for use of the trigger (or some L/R selection) to select between going left or right.

5. Consecutive enchanting is VERY prone to making a mistake by clicking too many times due to lag (could be controller, server, screen, IDK). Wish I had a suggestion for this one - maybe hold the button for the split second like picking up gold.

6. When you load the Escape menu, instead of the cursor starting in the upper left, could you please place the default cursor in the center and have more useful items moreso near the center. In addition, if you do this, it would be nice to add more options to the Escape menu. Since not all items are on the Escape, you have to assign them to a ring menu, which is odd.

I want to say that the Ring Menu interface is MUCH better this second time around - it was almost impossible to navigate through the needed parts of the game in the first Beta, but the 2nd Beta addressed this UI problem quite nicely with the introduction of more useful ring items and more ring menus with left d-pad. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing even more! Suggest adding more menus for right d-pad.

You all are doing a wonderful job polishing this up. UI looked superb, but controls for switching between menus/modals/items really took up a lot of my time, when there is such opportunity for streamlining these because of the unique opportunity of the L/R bumpers and triggers that the PC does not have.

+1

Everything you listed is standard on mmos to toggle on/off/resize, maybe not so much on console mmos unfortunately. When im out enjoying the story and the world I want to have a very minimalist ui. Everything you listed would help me achieve that.
