I am not going to post pictures because I've seen post that have pictures protraying what I am about to discuss.

  There is trolling and sh*t talking, then there is not neccessary chat. Which most of the time I blow off. Everyday I log on and see racial hate and belittling and gender slinging, kill yourself talk, suck my d*co, the list goes on. Most i blow off and just tell my friends in the party this chat will turn a lot of new players away because  the toxicity. Kids play this game. Idc what white knight post under my post about they shouldn't play this game, but they are the best gamers of our generation so they have the right. I think the community in charge should do a little more than slap peoples hands and message them do it again and you're chat banned. Because I was messaged about being chat banned for calling trolls out in the chat. If yall can't control the chat then appoint people who play the game every day the ability to help control the chat. It is getting out of hand. Who cares if you can turn chat off, i can't answer someone's question in the server chat without " should black people have the right to vote " interfering with my conversation to someone. Idc about trash talking and little trolling. It is competitive, us adults know what the issue I am pointing out is. And the game was made by adults not kids, so kids leave your input at daycare so us adults can discuss this.

Welcome to gaming in the new age.  All game chat is toxic it seems, does not matter what game it is.

But I agree they need to step up and do something about it. I too like to help some folks out and find a guild that has respectable players in it. But as it is now I can't as I keep chat off so I do not have to get tilted over what I am reading from chat.

Let's hope the GM's see the chat and do something about on a more regular basis going forward.

Yeah, that is the issue, if they want to stand out from all the other mmos on console, they do a great job with the gameplay itself but fall back into the cluster with their chat issues. If you can't even use the chat. Why have one.

Once I get home I will log on to PoE and show them this crap we are dealing with. Even the PC players hate their own chat on PoE it is not as toxic mind you but it is still bad.

There are a number of threads already from other players on this forum about how bad the chat is on here. PA will have to do something sooner than later.

They need to do something like moderators to control it. I am sure they are super busy and chat is the least of the worries. But it is one of the biggest parts of the games.

Agree %100. The chat started off as semi-humorous but it’s becomkng unacceptable. Last night those who were just watching did rise up and stamp down the racism, and those posting that garbage ended up not replying back, but PA needs to be aware and do something. 

Tagjng so this can hopefully get some traction. In all honesty if you submit those screenshots to MS I’m sure some bans will role out ASAP. That kind of negative publicity is not something either company wants.  

But id rather be able to handle it “in house” through PA directly if that’s an option. 

Couple things here...

1) As we played in beta, the number one requested UI add was a toggle to remove chat. It was added, and guess what? First thing I do when I get into the game is toggle chat off. Simple. If someone I know wants to message me, they know how. Don’t get me wrong, I like a ‘active’ chat in mature MMOs, but you ain’t going to get that on console.

2) On that point - Console gamers. It’s a different community. PC has it’s issues too, but PC gaming is harder to approach for many. Hardware costs, software costs, driver issues, driver updates, etc etc. This makes console more approachable by anyone,. Leave it at that.

3) The GMs here are great and friendly. But sometimes, you need to throw down the hammer. GMs are in the chat, they should make themselves known to be hard on players that abuse.

24hr ban these idiots who throw race, hate, or are just plain idiots in chat. Ban them. Strike one 24hr hour ban, strike two 48hr, strike three a month.

4) Finally... Devs, add the ability to filter the channels we SEE in the chat. We can do this when we look at the chat with the Menu button(View Chat), we just RB/LB and filter who we see. Add it to the Global chat UI. Now you can filter down what you see, friends only, guild only, etc.

Unfortunately there's a lot of Toxic people on Xbox. Haven't seen it much myself because I instantly turn chat off when i log in. But i also have kids that play on console and definitely  wouldn't want them to see the kind of chat i'v seen in some of the screenshots on here.

I personally wouldn't mind if server chat was removed completely or for GM's/CM's only.

What even is the server chat used for anyway? Guild chat,party chat and whisper (pm) is all you need. Its not like it's even required to make trades.

I guess Guild recruitment could be an issue. A suggestion for this could be to have a Guild recruitment board in each major city where only the guild leaders/officers can post. Surely this way its easier to monitor. Also you would hope anyone that runs a guild is sensible. Any application's are then sent to the leader/officer(s) as in game mail.

I will only address the 1st point. To shut all communication off is to shut all new players questions off aswell. New players have every right to ask questions if they are stuck in a game and if we can help them we shouldn't have to avoid them because chat issues. Behavior only gets controlled when people start controlling it and not avoiding the issue. As much as it is unfair to me it is unfair to new people also. 

I personally enjoy the chat, I have helped, and got help on it. Also eventually I will find a guild on it. I also enjoy bashing people who make fun of pvers. When I have had enough I turn it off. Which is most times cause I don't want to waste the energy.

Here try reading that stuff in a funny voice. I mean this stuff is really basic, I know we all been pampered by Facebook and the ignore button lol. You do know its words on a screen, when you read them you are the one putting emotion behind them, you control your emotions, just dont let them bother you. It's a pretty sad world we live in when the simplest of tasks, like not letting people's words that literally have 0 to do with your real life and are utterly meaningless get every one riled up. 

Why is it so difficult for you guys to just not get pissed off at reading words in a chat? It is literally mind boggling you got this far in life, with out the ability to control your own mind. All you need to do is change the emotion related to the word in the context of the fact it is a video game chat room, not the town hall meeting.

What you are doing is 100 percent the reason the people you want banned who offend you do it. They know you have 0 control over your emotions, and all they gotta do is type some utter nonsense they dont even believe and bam your rdy to join a nazi book banning squad to ban everything. 

One person wanted to turn off chat totally for every one, cause of thier inability to control them selves. Just cause you dont like it doesnt mean it should be banned, this is real basic stuff. Another said he was afraid his kids might see it Haha, I think that is the real problem. People apparently think the solution to all things that offend them is to ban, block, or forbid them. Not learn how to control them.No wonder you guys literally lack any ability to control your selves, and want  a mommy figure  to block all foul things for you, or like the one person wants to actually be the mommy figure and do it for free. Which goes to show he should be no where near anything that is even close to a ban button. You have some serious problems, if you want to sit and police black desert online video game chat, for free, and you 100 percent wouldnt do a good job, and be neutral to it.

All I can say is grow up, jesus maybe you cant lol. Maybe no one actually sat you down as a child and told you, just because some one says something doesnt make it true, and sticks and stones my break my bones but names will never hurt me. I know from my kids morons switched that with memes saying word hurt, but that is legit nonsense. So I'll tell you like I did them, you control your mind, words cant hurt you, you are hurting your self by giving those people power over your mind. Some how you twisted that very basic understanding into since I have no control over my brain, and people saying harsh words offend me they should be punished, and banned.

This more specifically seems to me, you guys cant even come to the rationale that you are playing a video game. That literally has 0 bearing on real life. The chat room is literally meaningless, and you have the ability to turn it off. Get off your high horse that you think you need to police every video game chat or fourm you find your self in, and chilly down Haha. It literally is meaningless other than your will to make your self seem superior because you think some words shouldn't be used.

And us who are on here who are addressing the issue, we are the 0.01% voice of the people who also have this issue. This is a GAME issue not a community issue. Chats turn people away from games. A toxic community breeds animosity and hatred. And we've seen it progress from small sh*t talking to Race shaming and cultural backlash. This game is a escape from reality for most people, they shouldn't feel threatened on here aswell. I have not been offended by the chat but it offends me because there are people who have and take it to heart. Not everyone has skin of iron. And the soft skinned people usually are the ones who help the community the most grow.

this is probably one of the guys thats like this in chat ive made a ticket and have posted screenshots of the people doing it hopefully they will get dealt with and when they do it will be hilarious to see them asking "what happened" in these forums so those of you who are like this in chat your times up as support has said this will be dealt with they just need proof the more that make a ticket with proof the better!

PA has an Operational Policy. On it you can read the restrictions over racism, hate, ect...

What we need is a GM that reads the chat or a button to report bad chat behavior. In that way PA could apply its policy and restrict some users.

What world do you live in man? In what medium can you type racist, hate, and degrading text and ‘its fine, just look the otherway’? It’s not allowed on almost every social media medium, and 100% of gaming forums.

I don't disagree but I find this reasoning to become less and less relevant as time goes on.  I am part of the population that left PCs for consoles (for various reasons) and we are growing...our culture (which makes the community) is no different.

To piggyback off above, yes, and yes the low price of admission is partially to blame.  But in the end we created (or change) communities on the platform of choice...if we want to roll up our sleeves and do the hard work to make it happen!

And while I agree that the "Sticks and Stones" mentality is a good one, and through maturity becomes easier to realize, it's more then that.  This type of behavior, and specify having no consequences to said behavior, is the root of a lot of issues today.  To just say "shrug it off", or "grow up and get over it" not only fails to address the problem, it actually worsens it. I'm sure your post was meant with good intentions but the behavior I have seen in the chat is absolutely beyond acceptable and needs to be addressed through painfull lessons like warnings all the way up to perma-bans.

Two things that will greatly help is

1. Able to mute that person so that you can block all their chat. 

2. Being able to see their xbox gamer tag so you can report them to Microsoft,  not only can the GM banned them from chat for a time  (it's cumulative) but also get banned in general from xbox  by Microsoft.  

I have a feeling it's either some toxic pc players who came to xbox, some rival mmo making it toxic to reduce players or simply toxic xbox players who unfortunately manage to find this game or a combination of all.

I live in the real world, people are racist, sexist, and horrible all the time. If it's not life threatening I ignore it. You on the other hand feel a need to attack it. This is what u are like. You see a truck go down the road that has a Confederate flag and says the south was right, you want to chase them down, argue with them, then try to force some one in power to ban him from having those things. Chilly down, and especially in chat rooms its meaningless. 

You 100 percent feel superior, you are lying bad to your self. No one goes around saying they want to ban and control chat rooms other than to feel superior. You are literally no different than the people spouting legit garbage in the chat.

- Every MMO has filters for chat, most have customizable tabs.

- Every MMO bans players for inappropriate behavior.

Their game, their rules. Nothing to do with superiority.

You are the one making it a problem, because you cant get over it. It literally bugs the hell out of you that some one had the disrespect to type such drivel into your chat boxs as you think of it. If you literally just ignore it like I do there literally is no problem at all. You are also exaggerating the whole thing terribly. I have no desire to "change" your mind...but your laboring under the decision that we are in the minority when in the end it is you.

That is what I choose to believe, that the majority of people are thoughtful and respectful...if the opposite is true, that they are selfish and cruel caring only about themselves, we're doomed.

Bullying is real,race,political,religion,kids,adults. Doesn't matter I'd it matters to you. It is a real thing. PEOPLE use this game as a escape from reality because they are tired of issues in life. We all have our troubles but they shouldn't be reawakened when you are playing a game. Gaming is a sense of escape for everyone. So for you to be numb to that is the issue. You have no voice because you do nothing to change it. To sit quietly while others are being beat up and you see it is not right? This is still real world we are talking about.

 Back to gaming world. Regardless of it being messages. They are meant doe Ill intent and should be handled with real discipline. Regardless of how you feel, it is called rules. It is called civil interaction. And it is called being human.
