I’m sorry but from what I read that was kinda the norm on pc most of the time and the norm for most mmo games in general nowadays so I’m trying to wrap my head around this on a marketing standpoint but I just can’t. Game rewards you for filling alt character slots by allowing more energy so most have already filled all 6 slots like me, so now I have to either wait 24 hours to delete an alt or pay money for a class I have been waiting a month for. Yea that makes a lot of sense to do this instead of giving players a chance to try a class they may potentially like and put more time and money into in the long run but I can see the potential of disappointing your player base for a quick cash grab with 50% off cash items. I’m sorry but this just really disappointed me to see that the pc community is being catered for but the fresh and potentially very profitable new community gets shafted. Good job on this one guys.

This was discussed in the stream #7. Simon said that there are no free slots coming. 

Currently you can go about it in three ways:

- wait 24h to delate your alt

- play 200 hours on a single character to get a character slot coupon

- spend 300 pearls to get a character slot 

Imho, you will need additional slots anyway so you may as well just get one now. In the end BDO is a heavily cash shop based game.

True enough but I just find this situation to be a huge cash grab to a degree and it irritates me that they decide to do it this early on from release, it honestly would have been a very consumer friendly appeal to almost show players that they want the continued support but this just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Want to see this game go really well cause Xbox needs it but still don’t want to see a near Anthem level drop in support from something like this.

I agree.

I think they just want to earn some surplus at the beginning and stabilize financially after the release which was obviously expensive. I'm not defending them, I will use my pearls as well (sadly) but I understand them.

I think you should know better by now. I mean they charge you 30 bucks for a pearl armor set and in game gear all looks the same to pretty much force you to buy pearls if you don't want to look like a sack of ****. Not to count all the amazing other stuff that you "need" in order to be relevant. Fair to say it's all about profit.

I miss the days when MMO's were subscription based affairs.

I understand it as well but the shear amount of shudad armor sets I’ve seen from the ultimate edition and the number of pearl shop items on market and if I remember from server stats it should be in the range of 750,000 players were crowding servers for awhile I don’t think they are hurting for funds atm. Really hope they don’t continue with this kind of tactic going forward though.

I agree with the OP, locking the new characters behind a pay wall is unacceptable.

They pulled the discounted loyalty character slots on PC late in the game and it still upset everyone, I suspect they thought they could start without it with this player base and we wouldn't know any better... wrong!

Here is my problem with it, they have been bragging since before launch that they would never charge for future updates or content, but this is a contradiction to those promises. If you want to play all of this games content now, which has 4 new classes, you have to pay. I'll describe it another way, this game now has 10 classes, a player can play 7 of those, if said player wants to play all 10, they have no other choice but to pay... which equates to locking content behind a pay wall.

Pets (arguably the most required pearl items) are not even locked behind this tight of a pay wall, they have been giving them out, and you can buy them in the Central Market.

The best solution would be to offer the character slots via loyalties and pearls, this way they player could choose between saving up their loyalties or buying with pearls for immediate convenience. Additionally they could allow character slots to be sold on the Central Market, or add another 3 as reasonably achievable rewards in game. Here is an example, level up any new class to 55 and get a character slot as a reward. This would allow players to earn the 7th slot for the 200 hour reward, make a new class, level to 55, make another new class and repeat. If the player doesn't want to go through that or spend loyalties or spend silver, or they want the slots right away, they can buy them with Pearls.

There are 17 classes on PC, if we have to buy 10 more character slots it will cost each of us at least $30 more if we buy them on sale, or up to $60 more if we buy them for full price... $30-60 to be able to play all the classes is unacceptable. This is the same as locking the new classes behind paid expansions, there is no difference from the player's perspective.

They are breaking a promise they have made to players who bought their product based, in part, on those promises, we should not stand for this and demand it be corrected. If we allow this, whats next, the desert expansion comes out but you have to buy a desert access item for pearls to go there... we need to put a stop to this right now.

No, you do not have full access, at most you have 70% access to the full game's content at any one time without paying, while if you pay, you can have up to 100% access.

Please do not defend this with the argument that you can delete a class to create a new class from scratch, that is not a valid argument. If you could change an existing character to another class easily with no additional cost, that might be a valid counter argument. Suggesting players commit hundreds(thousands eventually) of hours into developing and leveling a character in an RPG then just delete it to start over with a new class... that is not a valid argument.

You must have missed the part where I did the math for you and showed the issue was not about $3, but actually $30-60, and more specifically you didn't read the primary point which is that they promised they wouldn't do this and are already doing it.

Allow me to make this really simple for you with a quick story...

You go to a Lamborghini dealership, you have worked really hard in life and are finally in the big leagues, its time to enjoy it. You see your favorite Lambo is available at an unbelievable price, so you ask a million questions to ensure you are not going to get tricked somehow. The salesmen answers all your questions, so you pick out your favorite Lambo, fill out all the paperwork and eventually the salesmen hands you a set of keys. You walk out to your Lambo and hop in, you flip the switch, press the button and the engine screams to life, you are ecstatic. You drive towards the dealership exit and take a right out onto the street, you put your right foot down hard and in the blink of an eye you are at a red traffic light. You flip your left turn signal on and when the light turns green start to turn the wheel only to find it will not turn left. You try everything you can then decide to pull off the road into a small driveway on the right.The wheel will not turn left past 12:00. You decide to turn around and head back to the dealership right away, you attempt to put the car in reverse... it won't go into reverse. You try to engage the parking break, but it also will not work. You call the salesmen who tells you if you want all those features of the car at the same time, you will need to pay more, otherwise, you can turn the car off, then apply the parking brake, or turn left, but you cannot have the car running and turn left or apply the parking break at the same time. He gives you similarly odd instructions to use reverse. The salesmen then assures you that you were sold a complete Lamborghini and all of its features are available to you... 

In the above story the salesmen promised you over and over, you were getting the whole package for that price... no one would accept the above scenario, we shouldn't accept the character slots situation.

Do u have access to mediah? Do u can fight against kzarka? Do u get more quests? You do, so what are u expecting. U get 7 slots for free. The game costs not even 10 bucks.  With every char u like you will be easily have more than 100 hours play time. Not pearl abyss is greedy u are greedy. There is no way that u will play all classes  to the max. It's impossible to like all classes.  In your story u said that u asked the salesman many questions. Well given the pc version u don't get the slots everytime for free. Bdo on Xbox ist only a month old. Do u really thaught they would gift u so soon chat slots?

I never said they should gift the character slots to us... If you think buying character slots is OK, then by all means, buy them. If my argument gains traction and the devs add an alternate method for obtaining character slots, this will only benefit you when more classes are released. Why would you oppose something that could only benefit you?

I am also not greedy, nor am I cheap, I bought the game, spent some money on pets, and plan to spend some money on certain things from the Cash shop.

As for suggesting that you cannot like all classes or play all classes, I disagree with that as well, I currently have all 7 of my characters located throughout the map, each has a specialized purpose and most have life skills, not to mention their energy pools which I never let reach 100%. I am literally using 100% of the 7 characters I currently have, why should I have to either destroy FOUR of those seven characters, losing all their progress, or pay to have access to the full game's content? 

Anyone who doesn't agree with us, please, recognize that you only stand to benefit from us pushing back on the devs, if we fail, nothing changes for you, if we succeed, then you have more options to choose from in the future, including the option you are currently satisfied with.

They gave a free character slot coupon as a reward. Who's to say they won't do it again but really... How many characters can one play at a time. Eso is the same way. Not a big deal imo...

The one character slot reward for 200 hours on a single character is one of the time based rewards. You can scroll through the full list all the way to the 5000 accumulated hours (pet) and 10000 accumulated hours rewards, there are no other character slots as rewards for time played or any other progression based rewards. (1st thing I checked after loyalty section when the new classes were released)

It is possible they could offer character slots as rewards in the future, however, it is equally possible they will not. Thus this statement washes out, it doesn't sway the argument in either direction. Regardless of what might be offered at some undetermined and unconfirmed future time, the reality is there is only one way to get max character slots currently and that is to pay for them.

Since many of you are struggling with this, here is another colorful story to help:

You go to a 5 star restaurant and order the $150 seven course meal that everyone says is the best food you will ever eat. The waiter brings you out the first course, the salad. Its the most beautiful and delicious salad you have ever eaten. You eat some of the salad, but restrain yourself so that you don't fill up, after all, there are 6 more courses coming. The waiter takes the salad away and shortly returns with the check for the full $150. You explain to the waiter that you were only served the salad, there must be some mistake, you should have 6 more courses coming. The waiter explains that you can only get one course per visit and you will have to return to get the other courses, or, if you want more than one course now, you can pay $45 extra for each additional course you want today.

No one would accept the above scenario, we shouldn't accept the character slots situation.

The main issue I had about this topic and brought it up in the first place is over the blatant favoritism of the pc community and the fact that they were catered for all the way till the Lahn release, from the information that I have read so far the class releases after the base 6 all the way to Lahn in every region and version of the game have had free character coupons via the loyalty in game currency that you get just for logging in daily. So now we, the Xbox community, get access to the game and get shafted right off the bat which is inexcusable. I’m the type of player who will in the end play every class, no lie every mmo or game in general I play, I create all the classes and have rarely disliked a class from the selection and as such like to keep all the classes around and available to play when I want to. But in the end It comes down to the simple fact that they just tell us to go screw ourself that even if we paid for the game we’re not Worthy of the same treatment that everyone else got. But by all means if some of y’all like getting shafted and are fine with it all the power to you but I’m not fine with this kind of treatment as this is the kind of double standard bull crap that ruins the customers trust in a company.

Regardless, to get my DK and striker I had to delete the only two alts that I hadn’t invested time into and I want to be able to have them for another time as well as be able to play the remaining two classes that just came out but due to my situation I don’t have a way to just get pearls to get character slots at the moment so I’m out of luck. I refuse to delete my other slots as I do have time invested into them but I would also like to participate in the events that come with all 4 new classes but can only do 2 because of this. All of this could have been avoided if they just gave Xbox the same treatment that they gave pc not once but multiple times.

Explaining things to PC players is falling on deaf ears,  I don't think pvp should be forced at 50 or you have to stay at 49 until you do.  I like the game,  I don't pvp ever,  why can't I choose not to turn the pvp on and still level up?  I see your frustration with the slots,  I think that we should get a slot for each character via loyalties,  if some one liked a new class that said person may feel more inclined to buy pearls for said new toon for example inventory slots,  costume,  VP,  ect....They are not going by PC version,  this is Xbox one,  you can see this in character releases. I agree with the OP. 

Y'all late a bunch of freaking lames. All you want is free stuff. I'm sure most of you complaining spent 10$ to get the game. Average game now it's 60$ bucks. Most games also charge for DLC and expansions BD doesn't. If your seriously too cheap to pay $3 for another character slot after spending anything less than 60$ for the game you need to find a new job (or get one for that matter). Now go delete one of your crappy alts that is probably level 10

Lol your probably one of the PC players that got rekt so you came to Xbox one.  Demand better from your games these mtx business models are not going to cut it. 

I spent more on energy drinks in the last two days than what it cost to max out character slots that ill spend 100's of hours playing

Apparently you can’t read but as I said I’m not in a situation that allows me to just get pearls and all is fine, and you don’t need to know what my personal situation so you can assume if you want but as you have probably heard assuming makes an ass out of you and me so it better not to. And I’m no asking for free hand out I’m asking to be treated the same way pc players have been from years, Pearl Abyss has been very good to us so far but this is an obvious cash grab and favoritism towards the pc community. I’ll happily put money into the game when I get the chance but I don’t like being treated like I’m worth less than a pc player because I can’t afford to get a gaming rig.
