Rotate the camera around the statue and keep going up at the same time. Stop at the horse face, zoom. Should work.

When the Quest screen shows after pressing y at the statue, look to the right bottom corner of your screen: commands to use should be listed

Most of the statue quests you go 180 degrees exactly and zoom all the way in, auto win.
This one I angle to look down by lifting my point of view, zoom in and spin till it updates.
