I have seen this on other versions. How do you do it on PS4 if I want to sit or lean on a wall?

Sitting - stand on the place that you want to sit than press L1.

Lean on a wall - in pc just stand near the wall and press "s" twice. in ps4 stand near the wall and L3? twice.

So you press down on the left stick twice to lean?

Well you need to position your back to the wall, and then hold left analog stick down. Works same for sitting.

Btw there will be a mission (main story) where you will have to do it to eavesdrop.

I'm not seeing how to lean even after following this considering L3 is auto run and L1 is just making me sit and stand repeatedly.

(Also doesn't help that the only wagon I'm seeing in the area isn't a solid wall so I just walk through it)

You have to back up and then pack again and you should lean. Get on top of object like wall and l1 sit 

You also have to make sure you weapon is not drawn or else it won't work. I had that issue.
