Hey guys,
So i noticed from one of the GM based events and the number of people attending that it caused a massive spike in lag and sapped local system resources. This started to dissipate slightly when the edge of the crowd was near the edge if the circle on the minimap. Moving far enough away so that no other players or the mass concentration of players was on the map did the frame rate stabilize.
There's really only a few ways i can thibk of to reduce this is to reduce textures, polygons and fighting special effects for the players within such a distance of the event.
I do understand that everyone wants it to look flashy, but it has to be functional first. Also during the event, the entire crowd waa focused on a single huge stationary target. This doesnt allow for much play and encourages processing problems due to the local asset count.
I would greatly suggest using Paragons along side the Ancient Creature (GM). Making these creatures be swift like us, hit like us and more than likely 2-3 hit players quickly would be excellent.
The event had great attendance however it felt like everyone was standing around just waiting.
I think that utilizing a larger space, possibly residential, about the siE of heidel strewn with Paragons and a roaming powerfull boss that can challenge all of the lives of the participants.
Not by power alone, or cleaving but bringing swift death to the crowd, like a flash of light, like we do to his minions.
Monsters of the Abyss, slay us like we slay yours, make us fight for that kill and earn that silver.
