thanks for the Harming initiative
well lets go to the first kkk, beginner thing even I never played BDO, and I'm impressed by his complexity, what you recommend first, up the character a little or already start thinking about life skills, to be able to make money, I'm in doubt than do it first. I think if you're going to try to do both together, I will not be good at either.

Best weapon and armor to start (before boss)?

Yuria gear. To much changes between classes to really give a ton of input on what armor to wear. It comes down to play style and what you want.
Will it really be that big of a deal if I don't start with a character class that is recommended?
I am not hugely into PvP -- I prefer PvE or just simply casual gaming (my days of screaming into the mic or at the television while breaking controllers over a lost mission are long gone). Many Youtube videos slap me around about picking something suitable for grinding, but I am not going to enjoy the game if I'm forced/coerced into not picking what I want initially.
Does this make sense?
I have read that the Sorceress is a glass cannon and hard to manage as a newbie, but the Witch just seems so.. Blah sometimes?
Maybe I'm overthinking this.
To give a better idea on what I typically play as (in the meager amount of time I have played some type of MMO), I usually like short to mid-range attack types that are pretty much tanks. I like to get into the midst of the fight and deal as much damage as possible. On Tera, I had a ball running around as a Brawler until the lag and other issues with the game made me lose interest. Yet when I play games such as Monster Hunter, I do better with mid to long-range weapons like the bow and arrow.
I'm just weird.

Play what looks fun and interesting to you! The rest will come over time and lots of practice

I just get worried sometimes from hearing (a.k.a. reading) about how faulty some people are with certain classes. Of course I'm going to be faulty with __insert class name here__ -- I've never played BDO or BDX before! Hopefully, the older Black Desert community has some patience for us absolute newbies. I promise not to be in the way.
Thanks for the response!

I'd recommend focusing on PVE mainly at the start which is completely viable and what you want to do anyway it seems. There are many ways to play bdo and be successful and have fun doing it.
As for class, I am pretty positive you would really enjoy Valkyrie It wont be available at the start but it should be released fairly quickly. In the mean time just look at the starting 6 classes and see which one you would be interested in most until valk is released.

I was the same way when I first started looking into this game, I kept going between witch and sorceress. Always heard sorceress is really complicated and difficult and not a beginner friendly class. But I’d rather play something I can always achieve something on and get better with that class over time than just resort to something beginner friendly. And I’m sure anyone here would be more than happy to answer any questions you have!
Thank you both so much for the information and suggestions.
Hubby is laughing in the background. He said anything with a big sword or hits hard and heavy is what he's all about. He really, really, REALLY looks forward to the beta as much as I do.

I know BDO is a massive game with some very complex systems that change considerably with each patch.
I have played from launch to current version now 3 times and have experienced the growth of 3 servers now, gathering alot of information along the way.
Since there is so much to cover it would be impossible for me to list everything so I am making a thread for new players to ask me anything youd like to know about the game (PC versions).
Ill check in on here twice a day and do my best to get a good detailed response to each question.
Im happy to help! Post away.
*disclaimer* This version may differ from the PC versions so my advice may not be 100% accurate, but ill do my best

Honestly, no life skill is ever going to keep up with efficient grinding for pure silver income.
Thanks for comprehensive guide! It never occurred to me that farms can be beneficial.
My problem though is that to be efficient at grinding you'd need to invest in 1 character with inventory and weight. On top of that theres the potential 200$ to get decent pets.
So, is grinding the best balance between p2w and silver grinding? I have some doubts but the farming can surely net you some profit.
Hi thanks for giving your time to us newbies ha.
OK so I'm a kind of an invert and like doing a lot of things on my own like say gathering ore, plants, fishing, skinning etc is there anything like that in the game that I can grind away at?
Is there any cool item's that a hard to get by grinding I.e mount's, pets armor and such that can't be paid for by real money.
Have you ever felt burned out from doing certain things in the game that are core to the game?
Edit: Also can please explain or at least put in brackets what abbreviations you're using.

Ironically, he is interested in the Warrior and Bezerker. So he just may very well end up with those two, with one as a primary.
Thanks for the information and response! I know tons of newbies are going to ask, "What should I be? What fits me??" and that can get annoying, so I do sincerely appreciate your answer (and Ayumi and Kasai's).

Thanks for the tips, will need all the help I can get, lol.
My only concern is that all the information currently available is based on the pc verison and PA has no obligation to make this game the same as the pc version. Their only obligation is to make the game feel like a Black Desert game and run well on the console. So how different is still tbd but will things like the good grind spots on pc be the same on Xbox? Will the armor sets be the same? Will armor/weapon/ class base stats be the same? Will rng for drops and upgrades be the same? Will afk activities be the same? Will life skills and nodes function the same? Should the things i focus on be the same as if I was playing on pc? I guess time will tell, we should know in a few days hopefully.

It's a joke that we still can't get official statement on afk activities tbh...

I haven't been able to come up with a logical motive for not telling us except that it might just generate more music(questions) that they don't wanna face yet. Seeing the current rabid attitude of the forums makes it understandable to some degree.

Maybe they are thinking that afk activities will limit purchases?
I will lmfao if beta will be limited to pre-pvp lvl and without afk stuff ?

What I think is going to be vastly different is how skills work / interact.
I cant see the animation cancels and tricks on most classes working the same here.
An example is how alot of sorcs skills cancel into others. IE if Violation is cast with RMB + shift.
If you hold shift and then hit rmb it has a slight delay before going off but if your holding RBM then hit shift it fires instantly.
This is just one of MANY examples of skill cancels and weaving that I feel will be impossible to convert over to a handheld controller.
Honestly I found a lot of the Sorc's canels easier with a controller, especially coming from a fighting game background. That being said the way they have it set up from video's i've watch its much different on the xbox version, so it should be real interesting to see how it will work.
But cancels with the controller is just like kb&m, its all timing and familiarity, if you are used to that kind of stuff in other games it should be doable. Simon did post a video of Sorc gameplay where cancels were used and it looked pretty similar to pc version.

I also wonder how they will handles the sheer number of abilities without stepping on other actions such as accidentally calling out your black spirit or opening your inventory / ect.
I wonder if we will have some buttons cancel their function while in combat.
I hope its similar to pc, where if i hit Up+X i'd get a different ability than just standing x. I liked that format, though it did make maneuvering around more difficult, though that would increase the skill gap which i'm all for.
