Fist of all. I love the game. If I had to desctibe it in one word, I would say it's  a rich game. So many angles and so many enjoyble aspects.

However there is some frsutation here and there and it's all the more frustrating, cause I think it could be fixed easily. Here goes:

1) Oceans/ Sailing

The maritime world in BD is a great place and would be fun to explore. Unfortunately it is hampered by extremely time consuming distances where not much is happening and upgrading your ship seems such a long term project that even the most die hard BD fans are deterred. So for us who have a job and a family, the ocean seems to be off limits cause it’s so time consuming and it seems to be an all or nothing option. How about some ocean/sailing activity that can be done by people with just a limited amount of time?! Having to go to Crows Nest and Hakoven Island it’s just a pain in the ass and it’s so obvious an attempt to stretch you playing time without adding any enjoyment to it. I don’t know, if the auto routes were actually any good and you didn’t got stuck all the time and you could do some processing on the way, that would actually make it far more attractive I think. Also the whole thing with taking care of the sailors. Mine fell sick straight away, and curing them seems such a hassle and as I don’t really know what good they did in the first place, I feel like not bothering at all. Also the excessive resupplying your ship needs every five minutes is a huge turn off. For me at least. It just seems to me that the whole sailing experience is made deliberately frustrating to deter people. Here I would really appreciate a user friendly rework of the mechanics. Also, the swimming animation looks clumsy and like with your boat, you get stuck in rocks all the time, so you give up early.

2) World Boss fights

Shouldn’t it be a matter of concern for the developers when half of the people afk the Boss fights?! I know, afking is encouraged in various areas of the game but I feel Boss fights should not be among them. But truth be told, the World Boss fights are so tedious, repetitive and boring so no-one goes there cause they are enjoyable but only for the rewards. I usually time my cooking (like real life cooking, not in game cooking) to coincide with the Boss fights so that I can do them semi afk. It seems unfair to the people who actually make an effort to afk them completely but doing them full time is just too tedious.

Can’t we have more enjoyable Boss fights? Probably with minions to spawn, or places to take cover or chases involved. Anything that breaks the tedium really.

3) Cooking

I enjoy cooking and I think there is so much missed potential. First, the 5 ingredient limit makes it kinda dull. It’s not often that I would recommend Final Fantasy 14 as a reference but if memory serves, there you can have as many ingredients as you want, making for far more rewarding, complex and versatile recipes. Also, cooking seems to have no real value outside of the imperial cooking selling point and providing beer for the workers. So basically everyone runs for the Five grain chicken stew contingent and that’s it. On the central market all the food sells for so little that it isn’t really worth bothering with. Let’s face it: No-one is going to buy boiled eggs for the 1AP buff when you can have a 7AP Buffs instead. So I wondered how to fix that and I think it’s actually quite simple. As it is of now, you have a cool down close do the actual duration of effect, which basically means you can only have one active food effect at the time. And there most of the time the effect ist really not noticable enough for you to bother with food stuff. But what if the cool down was actually way shorter than the duration of the effect. Say five minutes on an hour long effect. Food would suddenly be so much more in demand cause you could consume more stuff at the same time and you would still not be overpowered. You could experiment with various combination that suit your playstyle. Of course you would have to do it in a way that the same food doesn’t stack so you can’t have two simple Cron meals active at the same time.

4) Grinding

BD has one of the best combat mechanics I’ve ever experienced. It’s versatile, it’s complex, it’s beautifully animated. It’s great fun to work with. Unfortunately even the most enjoyable combat becomes a tedious chore, if you have to do it for hours on end. I don’t quite understand how you can ruin your own formidable work with lacklustre weeklies like: Kill 5000 of this and that. It seems deliberately designed do make the game feel repetitive and dull where you don’t enjoy the combat anymore but just watch the kill count fill up and wish for it to be over. Why not have slightly more imaginative weeklies with more variations and and maybe even some kind of story, or surprise element. What about weeklies that send you some place where you don’t know what’s gonna happen? Is that too much to ask for?

Thats all I got for today. Thank you for listening.
