I feel like it would be a bit untimely to release now because Eso's summerset dlc is coming out June 5th. Unless they want to drop it then to compete with it.

Its not late, theyve only gave windows not a date.. If you ever been involved in a community pre release its really common. Im sure theres some sort of strategy theyve worked out for release but I doubt there worried about ESO. BDO will consume ESOs pvp population and its not even really a competition. ESO is just a crappy game at this point.

I mean late as in time of the year. Next month will be the half mark of 2018.

my theory is that they want to balance the classes first with that 30 days class balance they recently announced

also there is E3 where im 100% sure the xbox game is getting its official release date (if not earlier)
they could be dodge on bless aswell who ever releases later wins the playerbase

Im with you on E3. We aleayd get our bdo info at events it seems. Bless is crap and has failed already in two regions. It will fail here. Last I heard they hadnt even planned on working a consoel version yet, but if it did hit it would flop hard. Its pretty dull. And with its TAB targetting and combat system dont even feel it challenges ESO. I have a buddy thats an emmisary for bless and streaming it nightly if you wanna check him out and seee what i mean.

Reading various discords, meta updates, seeing soooo many videos, the game went from a skill based MMO to a more gear dependent one. Especially after the renown update. Looking at the classes, people still seem to hate Strikers and Mystics, and after April 18th on PC, classes like Zerker got hit hard with the nerf hammer indirectly.

My point is this, If they are taking there time to balance things correctly, they have some MAJOR work to do. I don't say that sentence lightly either.

Eso has content for months. Different quests etc. Best mmo on xbox atm even if you dont like it and you can it crappy...owkayy.

For me they werent ready for the release because of port problems, not balancing.

But yeah, opinions, onions.

At the end we dont have any influence anyway by writing on this forums, so they will release when they feel like it.

It has been like 2 months since the forum launched and we didnt get anything new. I just gave up on waiting for this game. Will get back to following xbox version status after summer. At that point it should be closer to release.

Most likely true, I'll probably have another 1000hrs into the "crappy" super dope ESO by the time bdo releases. I think initially bdo might drain the population in eso but a lot of people will go back when they realize the only endgame in bdo is pvp. There are still a ton of guilds in eso that only do pve content, trials, etc. In truth, the games are extremely different and I think will appeal to different crowds. I know at least 6 people on my friends list that left eso on xbox to play bdo on pc, 4 of which came back to eso because they said bdo sucked and the other 2 are no longer playing bdo. The ones who came back said they will not be playing bdo xbox.

But like  said, opinions are like assholes...we all have one and it's other peoples that stink. I haven't played bdo, only watched it on Twitch and youtube so who knows, maybe I won't like it either. But I'm pretty godamn excited to give it a try!

Yeah I think ESOs pvp will be dead space for about 3-4 months after bdo comes out. Then there will be a small group of people that hit duo and want to go tri and realize how gear downgrades and how they cant grind wihtout avoiding pvp and much more and will return for the more casual mmo. But most will stay with bdo. Its pve community will reign strong atleast until Anthem and Red Dead.. after that might just be role players left lol

My theory as to why the release is being delayed is all about timing.

More than likely the release window will get narrowed down further at E3 this year with some more footage shown.

The delays are also to ensure optimisation and UI are at its best for when the game launches (ESO's launch was a nightmare). The competition that BDO faces on the xbox market are certainly there, they'll be aiming to grab players from ESO since it'll be more fast paced but also wait until the Summerset dlc lauches that way ESO players won't hop back immediately. Other games that pose a threat to BDO are Warframe where content gets released monthly and is usually bug free keeping a large majority of players invested.

If BDO releases at the perfect time which is probably just after E3 loads of people will have a look seeing as currently there aren't that many great 'new' multiplayer games coming until later this year, therefore sales will be higher which keeps both Microsoft and PA happy.

Hopefully PA and Microsoft don't continue hiding information anymore as soon people might start to think somethings going wrong and begin to loose faith in the games release.

Marketing.

Tera is already slowly dying and Theres basically no hype for ESO summerset.

Also E3 will be the best platform to announce release so..

Tera was hyped because of something new happening in mmorpg genre on Xbox, but the content is very limited there. In Bdo at least there's no level cap. For now only summerset to wait for. It would be nice timing to release bdo soon if it was ready, which it probably isn't

I do think we will get a release date at E3 simply because it makes logical sense, but...

I'm not 100% confident that PA has that logical sense...or rather because they base everything they do on cents.

Tera is dead because it looks and feels like a free to play game, almost as bad as Neverwinter and Star Trek Online.

People that play ESO are hyped for Summerset, but not so much because of the new content. It's more about the changes to the existing game.
