Black Desert 2019-10-31 08:00

Adventurers,

Both the Striker and the Tamer make their debut on Black Desert PS4! Both from far away lands, these characters are both looking for the same thing, information about themselves.

The Striker is a natural born fighter. His combat style is a mix of street brawler and trained martial artist. Discover the past of this new combatant.

Soul of a Champion

The little boy who grew up scrounging on the streets of the Eastern Continent was not always so poor. His first memories are that of luxury, the laughter of noblewomen, the feasts, and extravagance. Calpheon was his original home, but that all changed on one fated day after the ship he was on with his family capsized in a storm, and he washed up on a beach in the east.

He quickly became an outcast. The foreigner with the blonde hair and blue eyes stood out amongst the black hair and dark brown eyes of the locals. This drew the unwanted attention of thugs, who terrorised the young foreigner day in, day out. Through these scraps, the boy learned how to fight. Each punch he took, he threw two back. Every kick he took, he learned to throw one harder. His fights were never pretty, but eventually the thugs learned that to attack the foreigner was a sure way to end up in the infirmary. One day, a martial arts master stumbled upon the boy as he was scavenging for food and took him under his wing.

Under this master, the boy learned to read and, more importantly, to fight. Traveling all across the eastern continent, the boy became a man. During their travels, the master tutored the boy in the fighting styles of the beasts. He was taught how to mimic the strength of the tiger, the stealth of the panther, the precision of the snake, the agility of the monkey, and the balance of the crane. He devoured the knowledge and showed abilities far above his station.

He eventually entered the Martial God Tournament. This tournament occurred once every ten years, and was widely known as the largest martial arts tournament in the east. His rough but controlled fighting style overwhelmed his opponents, and he easily took the title.

After winning the tournament and proving his skills, he joined the Western Frontiers, a group of the finest martial artists who accepted people not based on their looks, but purely based on their skills. However, the young boy who grew up with no boundaries, he found the order constricting and eventually headed back to Calpheon to rediscover his roots.

The Tamer also makes her way to Black Desert. Accompanied by her legendary beast Heilang, the tamer wields a Shortsword and a Trinket to demolish her enemies. Those who are still standing once the tamer unleashes her attacks, are instantly met with the teeth of Heilang. Let’s find out more about the Tamer!

Abandoned

At the furthest point of the Orient is a huge island full of ferocious beasts. Haemo island was completely untouched by human civilization, and survival of the fittest was the only rule that governed these islands. Yet in an act of desperation, a woman travelled to these islands with a newborn child in her arms.

Already injured and coming from a long voyage, the woman used the last of her strength to carry the small child as far as possible. Traversing the forest proved too much, and before she could reach anywhere resembling safety, she succumbed to her injuries and died, leaving the newborn alone and defenseless. A beast passing by, perhaps drawn by the scent of blood, took an interest in the newborn child. The beast picked up the child, and decided to take care of it alongside its own cubs.

The child grew, almost feral, yet the purity of her heart remained. She took care of injured beasts after fights, played with new cubs, and became an integral part of the pack. Yet there was one Human who also called Haemo Island his own. This sage, Hwisa, returned after a long voyage looking for a successor, and was instantly intrigued by this little girl who had turned up on the island in his absence. Heilang, a legendary beast, took an instant liking to the girl too, and decided to take the girl as their own.

With Heilang’s help, Hwisa managed to communicate with the girl, and eventually the beastial tendancies slipped away. Yet even when communication was an issue, the young girl absorbed the teachings of her new master. Her fearlessness helped her in taming beasts of the island, and learned to wield her own claws as she practiced swordsmanship.

Yet the girl continued to grow, and as did her inquisitiveness. She began to question who she was and how she ended up on this island. She made her way down to the coast to look for clues as to how she got here. As she traveled round the perimeter of the island, traversing rocks and looking in caves, she discovered an old boat, almost overgrown by the local plantlife. This was not Hwisa’s boat. She inspected the outside and saw strange markings, but nothing really to identify the boat. As she looked inside the boat, she discovered a few sets of dirty rags. She pulled them out of the boat, and as she unfurled them a beautiful hairpin dropped out. She picked it up, and carried it back to Hwisa.

Hwisa was sitting, almost content with her back to Heilang. Heilang was the first to sense that something was coming, and nudged his master towards the young girl. Without a word she handed her the hairpin.

‘I want to learn more about how I got here, so I went down to the coast and found this. Please don’t be angry at me’ the young girl said sheepishly.

Hwisa didn’t look angry, but instead looked as intrigued as she was. The hairpin was beautifully designed. She took in the expert craftsmanship, the beautiful gold inlays with jade stones embedded in it. It was truly a beautiful piece of jewelry. She tossed it back to the young girl.

‘It’s a hairpin, incredibly well crafted, probably from nobility. However, I would advise against heading straight into your past. Sometimes the rocks of the present bury an awful past, and maybe that is the case here.’ Hwisa once again laid back onto Heilang, her emotionless face proving too tough for the young girl to decipher.

As Hwisa and Heilang slept, the girl left the camp and headed towards Hwisa’s boat. As her feet hit the sands of the beach, she felt nervous. She had never seen civilization before, yet here she was about to set sail on a huge journey. The cold seawater rushed against her leg as she pushed the boat out into the waters, and jumped in. She needed to know her past before she could forge her future. As the oars touched the water almost silently, she felt as though the watchful eyes of Heilang and Hwisa would continue to watch her every move.

Skills

The Tamer and Heilang are in complete synchronisation. She can control the divine beast to do her bidding, as she gives commands to it through her skills. She is also pretty good at handling a blade, and could look after herself even without Heilangs intervention.

Summon Heilang

At level 20, the Tamer can summon Heilang. Heilang will join you in battle and deal damage to enemies. The Tamer can also command Heilang to perform certain actions.

Command: Attack - Command Heilang to attack nearby enemies

Command: Stay - Command Heilang to wait for your next instruction

Command: Follow - Heilang will stop what is doing and come back

Command: Sit - Heilang will sit/lie down. During this time you will recover HP.

Void Lightning

This skill will draw enemies together while flinching them. If Heilang is already summoned, he will unleash his fury dealing even more damage.

Heilang: Roaring

This skill deals massive area of effect damage emanating from Heilang. Use this in combination with Void Lighting to finish off even the toughest opponents.
