Greetings Adventurer!
The 'Hero of the Black Shrine' is a new series aiming to celebrate the impressive achievements of players in our community who have toppled the daunting bosses of the Black Shrine at the highest difficulty: Calamity 7. Today, we would like to highlight the excellence of a top-ranking adventurer who has earned the coveted spot of the world's first clear on the Golden Pig King, CakeBunny! [GM] Vaha has traveled to the Land of Morning Light and met up with this masterful adventurer to ask a few questions. We hope to gain some perspective on their thoughts & insights concerning these newly introduced Boss Blitz battles to see if we may learn some tips & tricks against the fearsome Golden Pig King!

💬 Is this class your main and how long have you been playing on it?
I started my journey as a Lahn, her name was Honeycakebun! and I've been playing woosa for like 4 months now! This is my new main.

💬 How long did it take you to triumph over the Golden Pig King in Calamity 7? and then How long did it take to lock-in a top time?
Umm, I died a lot, I honestly can't remember how long, just that it was the first day of release! Maybe 1 hour, I was getting practice from Calamities 5-6.

💬 We have also seen that you are amongst the players that holds one of the first clears for Oduksini, Congratulations! How would you rate Golden Pig King's difficulty compared to the other calamity 7's you've beaten?
Yeah I thought piggy mechanics weren't that bad for Woosa, Oduksini was much much more difficult for me... I think piggy was a bit simplier in terms of mechanics but Oduksini definitely required a lot more awareness! I was actually going to give up on C7 but ended up clearing somehow!

💬 Did you approach the fight blind, so that you may encounter and figure out all the mechanics on your own? Or did you utilize a guide?
I was doing the easier calamities first so I was kind of learning his mechanics that way but C7 was really hard so I watched a video and then tried it myself. There were several attempts for C7 I got really close to killin' him; but then I died in 1 hit, so I figured it was doable for me so i kept on trying!

💬 What kind of buffs do you recommend as must haves for attempting a competitive time in the BlackShrine?
To be honest, I think there are a lot of options that work, I remember that I was testing frenzy, beast and even had full elixir rotations! I think spirit Perfume is very useful for these encounters. For my clear I utilized Frenzy Draught & Spirit Perfume, HP recovery on-hit is very important!

💬 What do you think are the advantages/disadvantages of your class when facing off against this particular boss?
I think Woosa is very strong against piggy, she really has a great kit for it, all the forward guards! As for the flames, you can easily avoid them with her amazing forward I-frame dash. Her HP Recovery skill, Spring Blossom, is also very powerful as it gives a sense of security during the fight.

💬 What was the most difficult mechanic during this boss fight in your opinion? and do you have advice on how to best handle it?
I think the animation of the flames can really throw people off easily... Sometimes it's pretty hard to discern which attack he is doing! I would say maybe don't be so greedy on damaging the boss and constantly repositioning to place yourself somewhere you won't be hit - mainly just take your time and keep an eye out for any heal orbs around!

💬 What motivated you to keep striving towards overcoming the highest difficulty of this boss?
I just really needed the people to know where I stand... which is at the top! Just kidding hehe, I just really like challenges and people were telling me it was really hard so i wanted to prove myeslf! So when I got him really weak on a couple attempts I knew it was possible! I love my tornadoes and rain... that and I really wanted the pig to die!!

💬 What are some tips & tricks for shaving a few seconds off the clear time for those of us out there shooting for a place on the leaderboards?
Hmm, I would say trying to get Piggy boss to maintain his defense debuffs that he gets is very important. If you're trying to go for a fast time always remember to perform back attacks and also if the skill's animation is too long, i would try to cancel the cast to maneuver around some more! Make a point to learn some of the boss' animations so you can quickly position yourself in the safespot to squeeze out more damage!
