Greetings Adventurer!

Thank you for joining us for another 'Hero of the Black Shrine' interview. This is a series focused on showcasing the incredible prowess of exceptional players in our community who have conquered the daunting bosses of the Black Shrine at the highest difficulty: Calamity 7.

Today, we would like shine the spotlight on the brilliant Witch who has quelled the corrupted Magistrate, Oduksini. [GM]Vaha has once again arrived at the docks of Nampo's Moodle Village in the Land of Morning Light to meet up with this legendary spell-slinger, Zyasa, to ask a few questions. We hope to gain some perspective on their thoughts & insights concerning these Boss Blitz battles to see if we may learn some tips & tricks against the ominious bird of death, Oduksini!

Hello! I am so honored and excited to meet your acquaintance! Could you please briefly introduce yourself?

Zyasa

Hello :) My name is Zyasa but feel free to call me Prinsessa! I love to PVP and preparing Siege Wars, and I also enjoy getting some daily grinding! I've also really enjoyed challenging myself doing the calamities of Blackshrine too!

[GM]Vaha

Is this class your main and how long have you been playing on it? (History about previous classes is welcome as well!)

Zyasa

This Witch is my main, and I've played her since 2019. I took a break and played Dark Knight for about a year but always waited for witch buffs to come back, shes so good in PvE content in her current state!

[GM]Vaha

How long did it take you to triumph over Oduksini in Calamity 7? (and then How long did it take to lock-in a top time?)

We have also seen that you are amongst the players that holds some of the first clears for Golden Pig & Apex Changui. Congratulations! How would you rate Oduksini's difficulty compared to the other Calamity 7's you've beaten?

Zyasa

Oh my.. with Oduksini, Let's just say that this boss gave me a lot of trouble... At first I didn't have enough damage to push through his final DPS stage. But after a few days, (and a couple hundred elixirs) I was finally able to beat it! Thankfully for my clear week, I didn't have too much competition on his Calamity 7 difficulty and I was able to lock in first place!

Hmmm, I'd have to say that Oduksini was probably the hardest boss to defeat in comparison to the other C7's I've beaten! Along with golden pig/apex changui - I've also defeated Bari & Bamboo Legion on C7 difficulty since! they were difficult of course but nothing like Oduksini! He required my full attention throughout the entire fight. I didn't want to give up though so I kept focus and pushed through to victory!

Did you approach the fight blind, so that you may encounter and figure out all the mechanics on your own? Or did you utilize a guide?

Zyasa

I went straight into C7 without other calamity clears, with the help of trusty guide right next to me to help!

[GM]Vaha

What do you think are the advantages/disadvantages of your class when facing off against this particular boss?

Zyasa

Awaken witch has an evasion skill which works like an invinicibility frame and is very fast in PVE, it helped save my life many times! That definitely helped a lot. My arsenal of ranged skills also played a huge role of course, helping me clear the Changui mobs without standing in their harmful AoE's during the fight! Also Witch has great healing that makes her so good for these C7 battles!

What was the most difficult mechanic during this boss fight in your opinion? and do you have advice on how to best handle it?

Zyasa

In my opinion the most difficult mechanic of Oduksini would have to be his second phase - when all the Changui monsters are just jumping at you relentlessly while you are trying to extinguish the flames to bring the boss back down! Just in general I think the best advice I can give is to take the fight slowly to give yourself space so that you are safe while dodging them while doing damage to the flames

Can you give some advice on when there will be a good timing window to push for damage on the boss?

Zyasa

Well there are 2 main damage phases on the boss, you have to push his health to 50% and then after you've cleared his flames around the room he will become vulnerable to your attacks so be sure to pop your E-buff and black spirit rage to go all in! You must push as hard as you can after the 2nd round of flames because if you aren't able to defeat him then... the room blows up and its all over!!

What motivated you to keep striving towards overcoming the highest difficulty of this boss?

Zyasa

Just like clearing the other Calamity 7 bosses, i was told they were close to impossible. I kept getting so close to victory so I knew i could do it! I trusted in my ability and put my head down to work hard so I could prove all the doubters wrong!

What are some tips & tricks for shaving a few seconds off the clear time for those of us out there shooting for a place on the leaderboards?

Zyasa

This one is for the other Witch players out there: When clearing the arena's braziers, It's a good tip to place your toxic flood on the next flame you will want to focus down! Then when you gather the mob of Changui as they flood in so you can burst them down together! Focus is the key!

Before we wrap things up, do you have any Shoutouts for friends or guildmates that have provided you great support throughout your journey to victory?

Zyasa

Yes, Thank you to Overload for supporting me while I was attempting this fight! He really really helped me out! And then I'd like to extend a thanks to my guild 'Bawsdeep' for all the "GZ's and GG's" on every clear i got~ It really kept me motivated to continue to challenging Calamity 7 bosses!

Thank you for having me! It is my goal to defeat 5/5 calamity 7 bosses a week but sometimes I run out of time hehe. This was such a fun interview, made all the work extra worth it <3
