The World's First Champion of all Calamities, Cribbzy!

Greetings Adventurer!

Thank you for joining us for the finale of the 'Hero of the Black Shrine' interviews. This is a series focused on showcasing the incredible prowess of exceptional players in our community who have conquered the daunting bosses of the Black Shrine at the highest difficulty: Calamity 7.

Today, we would like to honor the outstanding prowess of the Pint-sized Hero who has slaughtered the Wrathful Serpent. For this final interview, [GM]Vaha has ventured to the ominous floating stone lantern shrine in the lake above Dabeol Village to meet up with Cribbzy, the Unparalleled Conqueror of all Calamities, to ask a few questions. We hope to gain some perspective on their thoughts & insights concerning these Boss Blitz battles to see if we may learn some tips & tricks to utilize against the Ever-ascending Terror, Imoogi!

[GM]Vaha

Hello! I am so honored and excited to meet your acquaintance! Could you please briefly introduce yourself?

Cribbzy

Hello my name is Cribbzy but many people know me for my shai, AraAraSenpai. You’ll mostly see me running around high end grind spots or roaming openworld on arsha breaking ankles in pvp.

[GM]Vaha

Is this class your main and how long have you been playing on it? (History about previous classes is welcome as well!)

Cribbzy

Shai has basically been my main since her release, initially I was only going to keep it as a lifeskiller but I fell in love with her skill set which lead me to try conquer shai pvp in the sense of 1v1s. People responded positively to it as it was entertaining watching a shai win 1v1s so I kept doing it. I also played awakening kunoichi back in the day which I was heavily attached to but now I just main shai and dabble in other classes occasionally.

[GM]Vaha

How long did it take you to triumph in this fight? (and then How long did it take to lock-in a top time?)

Also according to our records, it shows that you are indeed the first adventurer in the world to have conqurered the entirety of the BlackShrine on the hardest difficulty, that is incredible Congratulations Cribbzy!!

Cribbzy

Yeah, I was super happy to find out that I was the first on console across all regions to complete Black Shrine. This was an achievement I was working tirelessly for and knowing that I finally did it felt great! As for my victory against Imoogi, it took me around 17 attempts to complete c7 which was spread over 2 hours because I would run back to Heidel to grab a crit buff haha. I polished up the fight in c6 the week beforehand and looked at a Korean guide for any small tips they could provide in relation to the flow of the fight.

[GM]Vaha

The battle against Imoogi is very chaotic with many threats that constantly appear in the arena. Of these different mechanics and environmental perils, which one was the most difficult to manage in your opinion?

Cribbzy

Personally I would say the hardest part of the fight was having enough damage to kill all the green orbs during the Earth Aura phase. This was before shai got the Sunset Artina sol which definitely made a huge difference in this phase, so initially I was stacking frenzy draught, 30 AP buff, Heidel crit buff, perfume of courage, class buff and 100% BlackSpirit rage absorb just to get past this phase. If I had to name another mechanic that was hard to deal with was the random rain clouds that would spawn throughout the fight, I had many damage phases that were blocked off by the clouds because it would ruin my run if I couldn't resolve the mechanic, summoning deadly tornadoes.

[GM]Vaha

Are there any fatal attack animations to watch out for? Important visual cues to keep track of? Or perhaps any summons during the battle that must be dealt with?

Cribbzy

More than anything else I would tell players to watch out for the lightning that spawns throughout the fight, they can stack up in one spot and it’s entirely possible to be 1 shot by them. Also during the damage phase I recommend rotating protected skills when u see Imoogi do an animation to avoid getting crowd controlled, so you can maximize your damage output.

[GM]Vaha

Imoogi seems omnipotent and utilizes all 3 auras to attack you during this fight! Do you have a quick guide on how to approach the different aura orbs that Imoogi drops in the arena?

Cribbzy

For the 3 auras I recommend saving skill cooldowns to deal as much damage as possible for the green orbs, it was very hard killing all the orbs while Imoogi was just rampaging about. The blue orbs mechanic is fairly straight forward, clear them in the right order and then stand in the tornado that spawns after to be immune to damage if you resolved it correctly. Lastly, the red orb phase I recommend pivoting the camera to a birds-eye view so that you can clearly see which orbs u needs to kill, bubbles will form in the water behind the orbs that you need to kill.

[GM]Vaha

What is the importance of the Stone lantern in the middle of the arena and do you have any tips for adventurers depending on the changes that happen to the lantern?

Cribbzy

The stone lantern is used to start each phase of the fight. For the first phase of the fight, you just need to attack it until it’s untargettable to then start the damage phase on Imoogi. During the second phase, you will need to stand in the rain cloud that spawns a tornado to then drag it to the center with the lantern to start the next phase. In the final damage phase, after you have collected all 3 auras, you will need to check the colored aura that is orbitting the stone lantern. Whichever aura is missing dictates the color of orb that you must kill to start the last damage phase.

[GM]Vaha

It seems like Imoogi requires the adventurer to be hyper-focused on the changes to arena whilst fighting each boss, Do you think that your battle experience from the rest of the Black Shrine bosses helped prepare you for the encounter with Imoogi? Do you have any advice to offer adventurers after having conquered the gauntlet of bosses?

Cribbzy

I think more effective than gaining battle experience from fighting the other bosses, the knowledge of your class is what will ultimately benefit you the most in the fight against Imoogi. I found Imoogi in particular to be vastly different to the rest of the black shrine bosses and would say it just requires patience so you shouldn’t rush the fight as there is no time limit placed on this fight. I personally believe some classes will certainly have an edge over others when encountering this boss but again the mastery of the user's class is the true key to victory here!

[GM]Vaha

What was your motivation to continue to strive towards conquering all the Calamity 7 bosses of the Black Shrine? Which boss did you find the most enjoyable to fight of all 10? And In your opinion which boss gave you the most difficulty to overcome?

Cribbzy

It was mainly because I enjoy good boss fights and wanted to set a goal for myself; without those, I doubt I would’ve attempted calamity 7 black shrine. I found that I fairly enjoy the Sangoon and Imoogi fights the most along with Gumiho being a close 3rd. My most challenging fight was definitely against Songakshi, mainly due to inconsistencies that I experienced during my run through with it. Duoksini is the hardest legitimate fight of the Black Shrine in my opinion, mainly due to his mechanic that spawns spirits would happen in quick succession with the fire circles piling up fairly quickly, which led to many of my deaths.

[GM]Vaha

Thank you so much for your time, Cribbzy, and Congratulations once again on your incredible feat: being the very first player to conquer the entirety of the Black Shrine's most difficult calamity level! Your resilience and perseverance is truly admirable, I really appreciate you participating in this very informative interview! Before we wrap things up, do you have any Shoutouts for friends or guildmates that have provided you great support throughout your journey to victory?

Cribbzy

I just wanna say that MagoriaPirates has helped me continue to play this game with its chill environment and great people. I’d also like to thank a player named Elkarr for giving me the drive to do what I do best.

Once again, We would like to sincerely thank Cribbzy for taking time out of their day to join us for this interview. You are truly amazing, we can't wait to see what other impressive feats you will accomplish in the future!

We hope that everyone had a wonderful time reading this final interview of the series and hopefully some of the tips shared by our outstanding adventurers will come in handy when you are challenging the Black Shrine!

Good luck & Have Fun out there, Until next time!
