Greetings Adventurers,
We would like to inform you of the circumstances regarding an issue where Trading EXP could be transferred incorrectly when using a Trading EXP Transfer Coupon.
When we first were notified of this issue, we immediately suspended the sale and use of Trading EXP Transfer Coupons on December 27, 2020 for all regions and services.
The Life Skill EXP Transfer Coupon was created with our Adventurers’ convenience in mind by allowing you to transfer your Life Skill EXP.
How the Trading EXP Transfer Coupon Works
Differing from other Life Skill leveling systems, required EXP to level up is fixed for Trading when it reaches a certain level, and from this point on, the amount of EXP gained from completing each trade begins to decrease with each transaction to set the difficulty of leveling up.
So when character A and B each has its own Trading level, the difference between the EXP gained for character A and the EXP gained for character B should have been accounted for in their differences of Trading levels when the EXP was transferred. However, the Trading EXP Transfer Coupon did not take into account the unique structure of Trading and simply transferred the total EXP.
For a more detailed example, assume the EXP amounts are as follows:
Total Trading EXP of Character Receiving Transfer = 10,000
EXP Earned by One Trade of Character Receiving Transfer = 10
Total Trading EXP of Character Transferring EXP = 20,000
EXP Earned by One Trade of Character Transferring EXP = 3
Total Amount of EXP the Receiving Character has After Using a Trading EXP Transfer Coupon
10,000+(20,000*0.3) = 16,000
0.3 represents the EXP Earned by One Trade of Character Transferring EXP divided by EXP Earned by One Trade of Character Receiving Transfer.
Total Amount of EXP the Receiving Character has After Using a Trading EXP Transfer Coupon to Transfer EXP Abnormally
10,000+20,000 = 30,000
The character that is sending the transfers over the total amount of Trading EXP in its entirety.
The numbers and structure shown above are simplified to be easier to understand. The actual numbers and structure are more complex.
However, since there was an issue with the Trading EXP Transfer Coupon, we determined that the EXP transfer system could lead to an unintended exploit of the coupon.
These Items that were sold to our Adventurers should have been put through more rigorous testing before being sold, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused for failing to discover this issue beforehand.
After the temporary suspension of the sale and use of the Trading EXP Transfer Coupon, we began a thorough investigation of all Adventurers who used this item on all regions. At the end of these investigations, we concluded that there were no cases of exploitation regarding the Trading EXP Transfer Coupon nor other repetitive actions to abnormally transfer Trading EXP.
As of April 14th maintenance, the Trading EXP Transfer Coupon has been fixed and released in the Pearl Shop to be used by Adventurers once again.
In order to prevent such issues in the future, the Black Desert team will conduct a more thorough testing of future items and add a process of monitoring the levels of all content for all Adventurers.
